Ruwan Jungle Homestay

Home from home! Ruwan and his family couldn’t have made us feel more welcome to their lovely Homestay. Nothing was too much trouble. The room had a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom. The shower was powerful and in the heat a welcome relief. Our room was on the small side but this wasn’t a problem as the outside space had a hammock, table and chairs. Breakfast was served daily by Ruwan and his lovely daughter. It was fresh and plentiful and always delivered with a big smile. The air conditioning in the room wasn’t great and took some getting used to. Ruwan did kindly offer to change our room but we declined as we didn’t want to inconvenience him with another room to clean. However it is only fair to share this information. We stayed 4 Nights with Ruwan and his family and everyday he checked on our welfare, if we needed anything or a ride anywhere. He organised a wonderful Whale watching trip for us, one we would recommend, as a must when in this area. Ruwan kindly cooked us a delicious Sri Lanka. Fish supper despite his wife only day’s earlier giving birth to their son. On New Years Day the family invited us for breakfast in their home. The food was plentiful, delicious and a reflection of this family’s kindness and willingness to share their hospitality with us. I urge Anyone in this area to visit Ruwan and his family if wanting an authentic experience. Ruwan, thank you , we will be back. You are in our hearts forever. Xox

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! We booked for 2 nights and stayed four. Testament to how wonderful this Homestay is and how wonderful this family are. Ruwan is such a great host. This is a must to anyone staying in this area.

Breakfast was delicious and we could get to eat Jackfruit too. The property is well maintained and full of greenery. The owner Mr. Ruwan is very cooperative.

Everything was perfect. There is nothing to put about dislike

We booked it, and when came to check in, we didn’t choose to stay. Guy met as very friendly but when we said that we didn’t like, he directly turned to opposite mood. Room had crazy mold smell. There was not really windows in the room. Mold smell is very harmful for people body, so we left it. Otherwise room was okey. No space at all and a lot of furniture. For even cheaper price later on we rented really nice fresh accommodation. But around the room area is very nice, jungle, calm you feel like you are in the wild, great

We were given the entire upper floor of his home, a private room amidst the greenery. While the ascent up the petite staircase with our heavier bags was a fleeting challenge, it was but a minor note in an otherwise harmonious stay. The morning greeted us with a simple yet delicious breakfast, prepared with an evident love that speaks volumes of Ruwan’s dedication. My wife, ever fond of a near-scalding shower, found the water not quite to her preferred volcanic temperatures, but such are the gentle compromises of travel—mere ripples in a sea of tranquility. Perhaps the most lasting impression was the warmth of Ruwan and his family whose genuine welcome mirrored the kindness found across this remarkable country. For those seeking a moment of quietude, where nature’s song replaces the city’s din, this is a place to pause, breathe, and be.

Small steep stairs are a workout with heavy luggage and hot water for shower is not boiling.

Quiet place close to the center, you can book various activities, as well as a delicious lunch or dinner. We decided on fish and crab and it was delicious. The air conditioning in the room works efficiently, large and pleasant to the touch towels, a hammock in front of the door. We recommend

I had a great time in Ruwan‘s Homestay! Ruwan was very friendly and polite. You can also book some trips and give you tipps for restaurants. I can also recommend breakfast and dinner with perfect local food from Ruwan‘s family 🙏🏽 10/10

Amazing stay with Ruwan. Even though we were only there for 1 night, Ruwan went out his way to help us in any way he could - communicating with whale watching tours, driving to next location. Really felt like he was looking out for us, and trying to help, including helping us to save money where possible. Set back from the Main Street so nice and quiet, cute moneys about the tree!
