Ruwan Jungle Homestay

Very good value for the price! At Ruwans you get at little appartment, featuring the bedroom as pictured with a comfy big bed, a modern bathroom and even a little kitchen. Everything was very clean! We also liked the moskito-net even though there were no moskitos in the room, luckily:) a simple but nice and homemade breakfast is served on the balkony, with nice jungle view. You are in 400-500m walking distance from the main road with shops and restaurants and beach. Ruwan organised a scooter for us, picked us up from the train station and offered several rides for free to other places which was more than friendly!! We can recommend his place:)

Nothing, it is just what you expect!

The Jungle Homestay is situated very close to the beach but also far enough to be away from the busy main road. So you enjoy the quiet and listen to the hum of nature in a jungle setting. The room covers all the basics very well with the benefit of having A/C. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious.

We had two units for our family of five and they each had a private entrance. Ruwan was very easy to reach and he really took the initiative to make our stay as easy and pleasant as possible. He was cheerful and sincere. He arranged our whale watching tour and took us to see turtles.

You might want to check if toiletries (shampoo especially) are provided as we had to ask for it. But Ruwan, as usual, came quickly to the rescue and all was good. Thank you, Ruwan.

More Days i had, more Days i would Stay with Ruwan. (Extended from 3 to 5 nights) It's a very Nice place to Stay in Mirissa, i can tell you. 1st, i slept like a baby. AC working, WiFi working, mosquito net in place. Very chilled Room and very clean also  2nd, very good breakfast 3rd, short walking distance from mainroad, turtle beach, Mirissa beach... 4th, Ruwan Will Help you with come and go from Colombo airport (extra price, of course) and Will Help with Tuk Tuk rides. He is a great host and Will Help with everything he can I really liked it , and i can recommend Ruwan

Everything perfect

It was beautiful. The rooms are tidy and comfortable. The multiple trees made the temperature cooler. It was really relaxing to just hang out outside the house. Ruwan was the best host one could have. He was so helpful and friendly and enthusiastic. He arranged pick up from the airport for us, took us around in his tuk-tuk , took us snokerling and surfing. He was also really fun to chill with. The food here was heavenly, it’s a slice of traditional cuisine . Ruwan went out of his way to serve us tea and coconut water when we requested. If you want to experience the authentic Mirissa you must definitely visit.

Nothing really

So happy i booked this place for the longest duration of our trip. The room was spacious with plenty of furniture to store our things including an indoor and outdoor dining area. We had the best villa on the property- little trek through some plants to get there but then meant our terrace was private with nobody walking past. The host was very attentive and always available for anything we needed. He even dropped us off at restaurants in his tuk tuk. There was also a fridge full of chilled water ready for our arrival. Also loved how the bathroom had the feel of being outside without actually being outside. Got to see peacocks, squirrels and monkeys while enjoying breakfast without any interference from the wildlife. The host also has a very sweet well trained dog that does not wander into guest area. Aircon was amazing.

The only thing i could possibly complain about is the aircon being too good as actually woke up in the middle of the night freezing 🤣

Wow, what a spot! We stayed in a room with a balcony, which was such an awesome place to relax. We were unlucky with the weather during our two night stay, so it was a great spot to watch the rain fall. It was very quiet, away from the main road. The host, Ruwan, is an incredibly generous, kind and warm host. His hospitality was superb. The breakfast was very good! Lastly, there’s a beautiful dog on the property. This accomodation was excellent and we are so glad we booked.

This was a lovely place to stay! It was in a great location within walking distance to the beach and places to eat. It had everything we needed including a fridge with cold water. Breakfast was delicious. Ruwan was fantastic and went above and beyond to look after us. He gave us advice on the local area, drove me early to the harbour to see the fish markets and drove us to Galle. A wonderful host!

Actually we just wanted to stay 1 night to have a short stop from the airport to Arugam but then we met this awesome guy Ruwan and his lovely homestay and we ended up staying there for a whole week. The rooms are beautiful and you have a very big bed, fan and a good AC. We absolutely loved the balcony with the hammock and the unique jungle view where you can watch all kinds of aninimals. Its super quite there and still so close to the beaches, the restaurants and the shops! Just perfect. You get a delicious breakfast and you can easily rent a scooter from him which we used a lot to discover this beautiful area. What we liked most was Ruwan himself. He is an outstanding guy who is so helpful, kindhearted and friendly in every situation. From our first phone call (to manage the airport shuttle) to our last tuktuk ride to our next destination we had a great time with him while he always treated us like his own family. All of his recommendations were super helpful, as you can read it in all the other positive reviews. Its true, he is a genuinely good guy who just wants to make his guests happy and help them in all situations. We will miss him and his place for sure and hope to see him someday again. We totally recommend his accommodation and would absolutely come back! :)

Definitely nothing!

Ruwan's breakfast was an incredible Sri Lankan style breakfast! He even went to go get milk especially for me to make Kiritea!
