Ruwan Jungle Homestay

Ruwan is an incredible host, I genuinely believe he’s one of the kindest and friendliest hosts I have ever had, and I don’t say that lightly! He will do anything to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The facilities are great, super comfy beds with good wifi and good A/C. The bathroom is clean with a powerful shower and it even has a fully kitted kitchen to use. He offered us dinner but we had already booked to go out, we wish we had the dinner with him as it looked delicious. Fish and prawns with salad and potato’s. He even did our laundry for a super cheap price. The location is good. A 10 minute walk to the beach and plenty of restaraunts/bars nearby. He will offer to take you to places if you want to see things nearby. I highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Ruwan is a great host, always ready to help. I recommend also to have at least one dinner here - was better than on the beach! The location is quite near to the main beach and he can take you there with a tuk tuk or can organise things like whale watching or visits to distant beaches and temples.

The accommodation was nicely a little off the main road, so it was quiet and peaceful.

Nice apartment in the jungle, with a hammock on the balcony for evening relaxation. Well equipped and in close proximity to the beach, 5 min walk. Ruwan is a great host who cares a lot about his guests and is always willing to help. We would love to come back here again! Highly recommended!

Nothing to complain. Soooo comfortable and convinent! Host Ruwan and his family is sooo kind and helpful. Seems like it’s hard to book here cuz it’s always full. If you grab the chance, you’re lucky! I had a very nice stay thanks to Ruwan!!

Ruwan is the best host ever!!! A host that not only put his 101% to help us but also a super multi-talented guy. Can we say we are really very happy with the homestay!! It was really clean and the toilet, wow?!!! The place is well-equipped, has a fridge (with freezer), comes with a kitchen and room is air-conditioned! It's really pretty and insta-worthy! Ruwan speaks good English too! He is a superb driver. He gave us a really good package price for all the activities (including transport) for our 4D3N stay here. He brought us to the Safari to see jungle animals (we had a private jeep haha!!!), settled the tickets for our whale-watching activity (and even drove us there early in the morning to reserve the best seats!!), brought us to eat nice local dinner, even brought us to less touristy places to buy goodies e.g. Sri Lankan Tea!!!!! He even taught us to surf. How crazy is that? He can do literally EVERYTHING!!!!!! They say “Jack of all trades, master of none” but Ruwan is literally the master of EVERYTHING😭 plus his family is so cute and friendly which makes us feel so welcomed!!! Oh and for those who love dogs, he has a super cute black dog🥹 Ruwan is also very attentive to the needs of the guests and is extremely genuine, we were so touched 😭 He would call us to check where are we to ensure we are safe, come over with his tuk tuk to fetch us whenever he need him. If you are looking for a safe place with awesome service, pls stay at Ruwan’s. Thank you so much Ruwan, you made our first experience in Sri Lanka. We are so lucky to have you❤️

Ruwan was a great host and gave us loats of recommendations for activities.In his jungle garden there were monkeys who came by to say hello and the acommandation is not on the main road which makes your stay more quiet. There are heaps of bars and restaurants such as the beach in walking diatance.

Location: The homestay is not too far from the beach, with several great restaurants in the vicinity, like Jungle Soul, 101 Restaurant, and Petti Petti – all of which I recommend. Situated at the forest's edge, the area is rich in wildlife, offering sightings of peacocks, various monkeys, countless birds, and even a monitor lizard. If you enjoy being around animals, this place is for you, though be prepared for some noise. The nearby beach is also great for watching turtles in the morning. The Host: I have to mention Ruwan, the host. He was incredibly helpful, fulfilling our requests without asking for extra payment, although I felt it was right to give him something. Just let Ruwan know what you need, and he'll handle it. Additionally, the food Ruwan prepared for us was incredibly delicious. We had curry shrimp that was simply unforgettable. The Room: Our room was excellent, featuring its kitchen where we occasionally cooked seafood. The facilities, including the internet, were all in good working order. I worked remotely for two weeks, and the internet service met my needs. Just a note: as I did, you might need to ask Ruwan to upgrade the internet service for a fee if you require faster speeds. Conclusion: I wholeheartedly recommend Ruwan Jungle Homestay for anyone looking for a comfortable stay close to nature, with excellent service and unforgettable food.

The owner makes your stay special. He helps out a lot, organizing activities, driving you to places etc. He even brought us in the middle of the night to a party with his tuktuk.
