Fantastic view over the Douro Valley. Large spacious property. Off street parking

A little dated but everything we needed was there.

Perfect apartment with large sitting room. Kitchen had all we needed to cook in. A quick walk down hill to Pinhao. A good steep walk uphill! Get a taxi which cost 7euro, it was worth it! Was lovely to get a patel de nata on arrival. While we sat in the sun in the evening enjoying the fabulous view our host gave us a delicious white port tonic to sip on.

Put in the name Quinta da Galeira into google maps to get to the apartment. We put the address in and it took us up a one way street the wrong way and was 100metres short of the apartment. The boss had the patience of a saint and guided is there finally by phone!

First things first, the view from the patio is absolutely spectacular. It’s easily the highlight of the stay and a truly beautiful spot to relax and soak in the surroundings. If you're looking for a quiet escape with a gorgeous outlook, this certainly delivers. Also, having a washing machine was a huge bonus.

The accommodation itself felt quite dated. I would describe the overall feel of the unit as reminiscent of a weekend stay at your grandmother’s house, older, well-used furniture, a somewhat mismatched or repurposed décor style, a couch with a blanket over it to hide the wear and a general sense of clutter. While everything was functional and reasonably clean, the space would benefit greatly from a thoughtful refresh. Doing so would even warrant a higher nightly fee because of the amazing views. One of the more significant issues was the bed in our room. It appeared that a queen-sized mattress had been placed on a double bed frame, resulting in overhanging edges and an uncomfortable night’s sleep. Attention to basic comfort and proper fitting furniture would make a big difference in the quality of the stay. The bed would have been fine for 1 person, but difficult when 2 were sharing it. Overall, the property has potential, especially with such a stunning location, but travelers should be aware that the interior may not meet modern expectations of comfort and style. If you’re okay with a more rustic and nostalgic setting, it might suit you, but if you're looking for contemporary comfort, this might fall a bit short.

Breakfast was not included. The house was near the top of a very steep hill which we were happy to walk down but got a taxi back up. The view from the house down to the village and the river and across the valley was magnificent and there was a large terrace to sit out on.

Nothing. Everything was great.

Keys were in the door. The view is absolutely stunning and we were surprised by the bread and sweets outside our door in the morning.

We didn’t realize the place was connected to other units. There was a very loud group in the unit next door which was unfortunate for us. I also tried to communicate with the host through booking.com a few times before our arrival but didn’t hear from him until the day we were arriving.

Fresh bread and tarts each morning, lovely treat. The view from this place is amazing, lovely patio to enjoy and dine. Everything we needed in the kitchen. Host very accommodating.

Location!! Although it's on the top of the city (quite a steep hill), the facilities, the accommodation and an incredible view from terrace are worth every step! The garden surrounding the houses is beautiful, floral and so well looked after. The terrace of our house had amazing seats that allowed us to comfortably sit and enjoy evenings with a bottle of wine overlooking Douro. The owner also brought us some porto tonic and pastels de nata during our last afternoon. Will definitely be coming back here.
