Host & Stay - Spring Cottage

Parking was an issue.. To be expected in centre of seaside town but private road outside property was essentially a car park for neighbours numerous vehicles, which blocked the road and large van blocked our doorway/window. Didn't affect our enjoyment of this property though.

300 yards from the centre of Whitby, couldn't be better. The rooms were clean and comfortable and foot access easy from the front. The kitchen area was well laid out for a short stay.

In the end the parking instructions were accurate, but there was another signed parking area in the lane in front of the row of cottages with as reserved notice for our cottage. The lane was full of cars and a builders van. That confused us at first as we ddin't fully associate the rear parking area at the back of the cottage with the cottage itself. We had two cars and initially found an off road site close by for one of them.

The nonsense catching us for extra insurance costs. Would have scored much higher if not for this. Just add £25.00 to the cost.

location was good right on heart of whitby, living room was cosy and kitchen was well equipped except fridge was a bit small for 4 people and freezer space was frozen and needed defrosting

Very poor customer services as had trouble with parking as someone was in space allocated for cottage all week and their solution was to put note on car with my number on which was not acceptable, Reading reviews this has happened before so something needs to be done about it. Also a blue van parked right outside front door on several occasions making access very difficult and also blocking front window to cottage. Pans in kitchen were dirty so had to clean them before use. Back garden tap did not work and also by back door was very mucky especially dirty old sink with weeds growing in it. There were not enough towels for 4 people
