"Delightful little place in the countryside"

Perfect location for wedding we attended.

Bed was a little uncomfortable, felt like it didn’t have that much support.

"Just what we needed!"

8.0

Ideal location right next to Combe Lodge for attending a wedding (literally a 2 minute walk). Dog friendly which meant we could bring our dog and pop back and let her out whilst attending the wedding. We stayed a few days so also a great location for lovely walks (Blagdon Lake only a few minutes away for example), and only 25 minute drive into Bristol. The building itself is very interesting and picturesque, with a lovely garden. We found everything that we needed in the kitchen (loads of glasses/mugs/plates/knives etc), also there is an iron and ironing board which was helpful when attending a wedding. The bed was fine, other reviews have mentioned it is very uncomfortable so we weren't expecting much but it was better than expected! Self check in was smooth and received instructions from the host beforehand. All in all it was just what we needed! If you're expecting luxury you it might not meet your expectations but it really is a lovely property in a fantastic location.

The mattress could probably do with replacing but like I said above it wasn't as bad as some reviewers have said. Carpet in the bathroom leading to some damp patches. There is one area of the garden where a dog could escape, if this was secured we would have felt happier about letting our dog explore the garden alone. The place was clean but not spotless. This was fine for us but a couple of things we noticed were crumbs on the countertop and other guests dog poo in the garden. There was no dustbin to put it in so I can see why some people might leave it!

"Perfect location for business needs .met the cleaners on leaving who were very friendly and seeme"

Some ofthe decoration and paintwork on walls perhaps needed some maintenance and the we fixed the chairs and coffee table as the screws had become very loose . Windows from outside will need replacing as the wood was rotten

"Ok for 1 night"

4.0

Was right next to combe lodge where we were attending a wedding with good access!

Smelt like smoke and like they had tried to cover it up by spraying air freshener. Just very musty! Im not convinced it had been cleaned properly, the bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable. Carpet in the bathroom had damp patches.

"Needs maintenance"

3.0

On a positive, the little fridge was good.

Same reviews as many. Location great for weddings at Combe Lodge but the place feels like it has had no maintenance for a long time and for the price paid, it's not good value and clearly shows they just charge a lot due to it's location. Mattress is dreadful. It is so soft you roll into the middle and can feel the boards. Two bad nights sleep for us both. If you like extremely soft mattresses then maybe you would like it. The bathroom is poor. Carpet on floor makes it smell like damp. Shower also leaks onto carpet so it will clearly just get worse. Given no window, maintenance and upkeep is key. Bulbs only, no covers. Even my student house had lamp shades/covers (other commented). Someone posted a picture of the soap bottles on the bathroom wall last year. 9 months later they still look the same. Bin the bottles if you aren't going to replace them. Clock still stuck at 10 past 2 (someone else commented). Kitchen fan stays on all the time and is loud. You can hear it from the bedroom with door shut, if you have good hearing (again others commented) The whole place is musty smelling. Cobwebs not cleaned away (again others commented) Curtains hanging off one window in lounge. WiFi code on box in property does not work. It's such a shame as the building itself is charming. But clearly has not been invested in or cleaned properly for a long time. I would have rung the agent about the issues but looking back at the reviews and given most of our time was at the wedding, we just put up with it. .

"Quirky property with great location"

Location to Coombe Lodge is excellent as you walk up some steps to the front of the property and you are there. We were attending a wedding so that was brilliant for us.

"In conclusion the cottage is lovely but basic maintenance could do with improving"

7.0

The location next to The Lodge. Nice and quiet. Sunny garden.

Your instructions on how to get here were not great. The postcode address is a field, not the cottage. I’m sharing a what3words address to help you tell people about finding this specific location. ///bearable.happier.manager https://w3w.co/bearable.happier.manager Detailed feedback: Instructions for appliances and some local site literature would be nice. Clock in kitchen is at 2:10 all the time. Presumably the battery is flat. There is no way to switch off the kitchen fan. It doesn’t go off when the lights are off and there is no apparent mains switch. (I believe this is actually a legal requirement?.) The bathroom sink is blocked. It was half full of water when we arrived so the cleaner could not have failed to notice. The small living room table is completely wonky. It looks like it just needs an Allen key to tighten the bolts. I rang you on Friday about a couple of these faults but got no reply to my voicemail. You instruct me to park close to right of the cottage but the budlia bush has overgrown a good part of the space. It needs cutting back.
