Cosy 1-bedroom cottage next to Combe Lodge Venue

We was attending a wedding at the Hall next door, the hall was a one minute walk up the path outside the front door of the property which was very convenient to get to and also so we could pop back regularly to check on our dog. It was also very spacious and comfortable in every room and a nice big garden.

The only thing that really let the property down was it did smell damp. Also we only had one towel each which wasn’t ideal, we were there for 3 days, the towel didn’t dry fully for each shower and my wife struggled when she washed her hair needing 2 towels ideally.

The location was convenient for an event at Coombe Lodge.

Everything. The cottage is dirty, the shower covered in black mould (I wouldn't even use it), the bath was slippery (my partner braved the shower but fell several times as there is no grip) and there is carpet in the bathroom - exceptionally unsanitary. The sofa bed is not a sofa bed - it's a sofa - and even though we booked for 2 adults and a teen, we were provided with no bedding for the 'sofa bed'. The fridge was dirty, the microwave was filthy, the mattress on the bed is cheap and very uncomfortable. The house is overrun with woodlice. A complete and utter waste of money.

The first bedroom was lovely. The general facilities kitchen, bathroom & garden were fine. Its position near Coombe Lodge was very convenient.

Value for money. £377 pounds for 3 people for 2 nights. We were very disappointed in the put it together yourself sofa bed in the living room. It was very uncomfortable and unhygienic. There was no bed linen or towels for the third person, only a duvet we found stuffed in a cupboard, so he was lying directly on the cushions. There was no back support. If you are charging so much then get a decent sofa bed and set it up properly with bed linen and extra towels. No time to complain as we arrived later in the evening. In general everything in the house was very sparse. Two dishwasher tablets for two days. Nothing for breakfast. Poor provision of basic essentials. We felt the place was a rip off just not good value.

Location

Not as clean as would have expected. Please replace the mattress which was very poor and uncomfortable. Bathroom could do with being replaced Contact tel number we were given was unobtainable

Location excellent for Combe Lodge events. Nice little cottage.

Finding the property was extremely difficult. Directions not the best - 3 words option would help. Bed in lounge was not made up - had to find bedding and set it up.

Location was good for us; quiet

Cleaner didn’t not clean before us and the place was not ready and this meant we had to sort ourselves out for the first night of two. The chasing of the agent to find out what was happening was frustrating.

Breakfast not applicable as we brought our own. Location was lovely.

The garden was not secure,though enclosed, which meant that it was unsafe for our dogs to be in. There was a large gap near a tree overlooking the road and there was a gap where a gate should have been. There were no cleaning facilities;no duster/polish;no dustpan and brush or broom or hoover. The bed needs a new mattress but pillows were lovely.
