Shortlake Cottage

Rustic and cosy, a beautiful cottage in an outstanding location. The views over the sea were incredible and we felt at peace here. We had an amazing time, felt safe and definitely would recommend. The walk to the beach was easy enough to find; steps lead you straight onto the pebble beach which was quiet and relaxing. No facilities at the beach so not too many people there, making it a calm place to chill. To get back, its a steep hill and uneven steps though.

At £250 per night I would expect a dishwasher or at least sponges to wash up with, oven gloves and a TV that worked.

Great rural location, just off the coastal hiking trails. The trails and fields provide sweeping ocean views (tho the views are blocked by the tall wind rows when you are inside). The unique old style construction and design add a lot of flavor to the stay. Quiet, surrounded by cows, horses and open fields...with a great pub right near by.

Very lightly equipped with essentials. Nice selection of cookware and dishware. Nearest shops are in Weymouth so pack your own essentials beyond salt & pepper.

Beautifully built and crafted property. Despite being an annexe it felt totally private. Really relaxing stay at Shortlake. Pictures don’t do the cottage justice the interior is truly stunning. Beds are comfortable, kitchen well equipped. Parking next to the cottage and great garden for the kids and dog to play in. 10 or so minute drive to super markets and Weymouth. 15/20 minute walk to lovely secluded beach.

The pillows were a little disappointing

The property has great views from the top floor. The kitchen has all you need. There is a washing machine and the beds are good. The location was very close to west coast walks, you can walk to Osmington bay and other coves and beaches from the house. It’s a perfect starting point for walking along the coast.

The location was perfect after a long day at the beach to chill out with some dinner and let the dog wander around outside

Beautiful cottage with lovely big windows, perfect for some chilled family time and good internet connection for our son, who was completing his uni work. The cottage was immaculate and well stocked with all the kitchenware we needed to cook, beds were super comfortable, shower was lovely and the location was perfect... a short stroll to the picturesque village of Osmington and the SW coastal path or ten minutes drive to Weymouth Beach.

The property itself isn't fenced so our dog was on lead at all times. We did let him off lead in nearby fields and on the coastal trail when we were sure there were no livestock around. The cottage is gorgeous. My only thought was somewhere to dump our muddy boots, hang wet coats & dog leads would have been an added bonus.

Great location, warm house, well maintained with all the items needed for a short stay.
