River Cottage at Old Post Office

Beautiful cottage next to a stream, was such a relaxing environment in the middle of a small village. Nice pub across the road with good food. Lots to do in area e.g. Hadrians Wall and Roman history. Lots of nice touches. Would love to go back.

This accommodation, the River Cottage, was a haven of peace, comfort, a sanctuary and a home away from home. It was a compact but beautifully set up, tucked next to a little river, trees and wildlife outside, and cosy, practical and pleasant inside space. It had everything I needed for cooking and relaxing. Although the beautiful and unique physical space itself was a comfort and a treat to experience, the way the hosts were so present with their genuine care, responsiveness and attention to individual detail added to the feeling of being sincerely welcomed. Yet, the space was completely private and felt like 'my own'. The location was perfect for exploring Hadrian's Wall and beyond - even at walking distance. This was an added bonus. A super village centre and shop with café, was very appealing. Train station was a two minute walk away. I would highly recommend staying at the Old Post Office River Cottage. It will likely stay with you as a treasured memory, if you do.

Cosy, artistic, great use of space. Beautifully equipped. Next to a burn/ stream which was so relaxing. Village pub 5 minutes walk away does good food, including excellent Thai, and is very welcoming

The accommodation is situated in a quaint village setting along a babbling brook or stream which contributes to lovely evenings on adjoining large porch. It was perfect suited for visiting the sites associated with Hadrian’s Wall and the other ancient Romans sites. Every detail and amenities was considered and provided. Hosts were fabulous. Highest recommendation.

Cute cottage, great location. Ideal for short term stays.

The outside space was incredible- I stayed here solo with my children, but would love to come back here adults only. The fire pit and bar over looking the stream was so tranquil. And the personal touches inside made the stay all the more special. Perfect location for sight seeing- Hadrians wall and vindolanda nearby. We would definitely come back when the weather is nice.
