Minshuku Satomachi

We had a great stay. Especially if you're planning to do the Jomon Sugi hike this is a great choice as the bus stop is around the corner. We can recommend the breakfast and lunch box as well. The host was very kind and really helpfull!

The minshuku is the floor above the tenant's home. It can be accessed from outside with external stairs. The kitchen being shared by all, you get to meet people. Some restaurants are close by foot.

It was very simple and old for this price, with a lot of clutter outside the house. The tatami room is beautiful but the common area is not. The washing machine is impractical to use: you have to fill it with water yourself and drain the water manually, to carry wet clothes from a container to another to go in spinning mode. Please buy a new one for this room rate...

The owner was very nice and kind to me and was very communicative. She's an old lady living downstairs but she would take time to walk upstairs to chat with me to make sure everything's ok and asked me about my hiking plan, though she didn't speak English and my Japanese is very broken, we communicated well with a translator app 😉 Staying in this minshuku in this village was simple yet lovely. The bath was a treat after hiking. Its close to the river and it's nice to stroll along even after a long day hike. I also liked that there's a kitchen. She also got everyone some lovely bread for breakfast, with coffee, tea and local shochu available on the kitchen bench. The kitchen and eating area were great for socializing with other guests. I would love to stay here again. ありがとうございます✨

Light breakfast was fine. The location was very convenient to restaurants and bus stop. Staff members were very pleasant and helpful, allowing us to check in early. Nice view of the river from front of hostel. Linen and towels were clean.

Overall cleanliness of the hostel not good and unpleasant smell from bathroom drains permeated all areas.

Despite the language barrier, the host was very sweet and caring. We really felt welcomed and taken care of. Free tea and croissants in the morning were very nice!

You can clearly hear other guests talking in another rooms because of the walls construction. Also, the bathroom could be a bit more clean.

There are three private rooms with a common area, a well-equipped kitchen that reminds me of hostel kitchens, and a big bottle of local sake to share with your new friends in the other rooms. Location is at the end of a street near the river: very quiet but close to Anbo’s tiny downtown, the port, and bus stops. The hostess doesn’t speak English but all the main information about staying there is written up in English.

This is the top floor of a Japanese-style home, so you can hear the other guests sliding their doors and and talking in their rooms.

The property was a Japanese style home. We got to experience the Japanese way of living. It was in a great location and a cute neighborhood. The owner is very sweet and she did have information in English. We were lucky to have someone that spoke Japanese with us to make things easier, but we could have gotten through the check in if we didn’t have a Japanese speaker with us.

The outside of the property looked run down and we were not sure where to check in.
