Teardrop Cottage

Everything about the cottage was amazing, the bed was comfy, the bathroom amazing, sat out on the roof terrace, amazing views , all the small details made it so special, from the tea tray with hot chocolate and mini marshmallows , to the bath robe and toiletries, everything felt luxurious, breakfast was only a short walk away , such a relaxing break , staff were super friendly as well 😀

We stayed in the room with the hot tub - a beautiful room, right next to the reception so I did wonder if we would hear people coming in and out but it was very quiet. The location is fantastic - we did have to block someone in when parking but we spoke to them as we arrived at the same time and were both leaving at a similar time so it wasn't an issue. Everything was lovely and clean, and the hot tub was fantastic! The only downside is that breakfast isn't included but that being said we had a lovely walk to the castle and bought food from a bakery to eat in the gardens overlooking the viaduct which was perfect! Mike was a great host who gave detailed instructions for arrival and was very helpful when we got there.

The room was fine, although a little small. We were disappointed and a little surprised that the 'private bathroom' was across the landing in a separate room. We had expected it to be en suite. So whilst the bathroom was really nice, we were a little uncomfortable having to cross the landing to get to it. In fairness though dressing gowns were provided. The location was really good and we really enjoyed our walks around Knaresborough.

The welcome was warm from Mike. The room very sweet and view super. The roses in the room were a lovely touch and free parking a bonus.

Personally I would not have stopped here had I have know what to expect. Yes its in a lovely spot, once you find it, someone previously had commented on how rude Mike was on the phone when directing, we had the same issue, and parking was not easy, we had to block the other car in, luckily they were not going anywhere so we were lucky we didnt have to move the car. The description said your own bathroom, what we didnt know was it was not in the bedroom, you had to kick the door to open it, the bed was right next to the wall, so no chance of keeping a glass of water or your phone by your bedside. To get out of the bed was fun as you can imagine!. We were very disappointed, also no mention of any breakfast at all. You did get some nice biscuit treats. I just dont understand how it has so many stars, but maybe I am getting too fussy in my old age
