JamboHouse Lamu

JamboHouse is a great place to stay if you want to explore Lamu. It's in the middle of the Old Town and has a great terrace to relax and enjoy the views. Arnold is an amazing host and provides you with all the information you need to enjoy the city(restaurants, activities, transport etc.). The breakfast (banana pancakes is amongst the options!) was the best we had during our trip!

It's a bit noisy from the outside, but that's to be expected if you stay in the middle of town.

Arnold was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home. He gave us lots of information about the city which was invaluable. The neighbourhood is safe and close to the main attractions

Arnold gave us all the information we needed to navigate Lamu on arrival and organised some wonderful trips for us as well as a Swahili cooking lesson. Breakfast was generous and the rooms comfortable. I would definitely recommend JamboHouse! We will stay again on our next trip.

Arnold is an amazing host. He was reachable all day for any questions we had and he arranged even last minute tour requests. Every activity organized by Arnold is through local Lamu residents. He's a true part of the community in Lamu. Breakfast was amazing as well. Side note: I truly advise to stay in Lamu Old Town opposed to Shela beach, as this area feels very local and food is amazing and really affordable. Plus, it's easy to get to Shela beach.

The bathroom in our room had no "roof" so the walls to the bathroom were merely view blockers. WiFi worked well on the rooftop but not so well in our room.

The location is great for Lamu Town. Arnold is a great host, the breakfast was deliscious and I had a nice time enjoying the sunrise from the terrace. I was also working a bit from there, and the wifi was decent enough to support some calls. I would recommend this place without hesitations

The location is in the midle of Lamu Town, walking distance from any part of town. No complains from my side

I like that there are ceiling fan as well as the tower fan in the room, that help me have a good sleep

The in-house breakfast is tasty, great variety and value for money. Very relaxing and cooling roof terrace on hot days. There is laundry service in the property. Owner is very responsive.

A bit noisy early in the morning and night even though we had shut the window. Poor ventilation in the bathroom. The padlock to the external bathroom is not working, the owner had oiled it but still not not working, we are fine without a padlock as other rooms seem to have attached bathroom... Make sure you try before locking it.
