Vulkán Wellness Panzió

It was okay and could be very nice if they gave a little effort.

There was no WiFi code in the unit, on the door, in the book, in the various emails they sent which focused only on selling spa services. They didn’t answer calls or messages on the platform or in the app about providing the code. The shower has hard water stains all over but functioned well. The towels were stiff as boards. The bathroom trash can was broken. Also all communication was only in Hungarian. It should be on both that and English.

We booked the Vulkan Wellness Panzio Hotel and arrived at 3.55pm. We were told there was a receptionist until 8 pm but no one was there. There was a notice on the door to ring. We phoned the number and were told no room was alocated to us but we had been given a room in the sister hotel. It took us some time and a number of phone calls and an email to the same person to gain the address of this second hotel due to language barriers. We arrived to thishotel and a young male receptionist told us that our room was in a third hotel called Agoston Hotel. We proceeded to this hotel. Our room was appalling- no lights on, no wifi, planks of wood outside the room, and bathroom was disgusting. The original hotel, The Vulkan, that we had booked was rated 8.4/10. The Agoston was rated 3.4/10. We left straightaway and found a room in a lovely hotel called Adele Boutique Hotel. We phoned the hotel to ask for a refund as we booked one hotel and got a totally different hotel. They asked us to speak with Hotels.com, who, after 1 hour, 6 minute phone call eventually found in favour of us and initiated a refund. Hotels.com were actually brilliant in this situation. Beware when tempted to book the Vulkan!

We stayed just one night passing by, beds were good, clean, easy acces, 20 min walk from the center, easy parking in front.

The room was nice and big. Bed was comfortable.

Where to start! Very impersonal, no one to solve issues like the lack of toiletries promised in the description. There was a hot pot but no tea bags, just a couple of instant coffe packets. The breakfast looked like it was left over from another decade. There wasn’t any coffee or tea there either that I could see. The walk to restaurants was about 20 minutes. The codes for entering were given to me over the phone when I arrived and was standing outside with my luggage in the street. Could have been sent in advance. NO English translation. “Wellness” is a stretch. The claim to wellness fame is a sauna open from 8am to 6pm.

The propertiy was dirty, like it was not cleaned for a century.

The location is good if you want to visit the Zsolnay center is only few minutes of walk. Also the lids toilet is a nice touch in the bathroom, my kid was happy about it.

We stayed in the apartment. The room was too light, impossible to sleep if you a light sleeper and wake up with the first sunlight. I called the owner asked for shade but what they provided after the second call was half broken was not properly fixed on the room so the result was the same as without. It has a bathtub but couldn’t use as the plug was not fitting ( again asked for a fitting one- never received it) There are not enough seat for 4 person to sit down no table to eat in the kitchen. Only an office desk. There is a fridge on the corridor in front of the room. There were already takeaway box in it. No info if the fridge is shared with all rooms / apartments or was not cleaned after the previous guest. Bed was really uncomfortable it gave me such a stiff neck i needed to shorten my holiday. The garden looks absolutely different than the pictures , overgrown roses on the seating area some rubbish packed in the corner. Absolutely not inviting to sit outside. There was almost no communication with the host apart from the promotion of the wellness facilities which is on contrary what it suggest on the booking site is payable. It was the first disappointment as there in the description nowhere mentioned the fact that the wellness is for additional charge. Which would have been fine and then might book it but as i only learned it after booking it felt it is not the most honest way to promote the accommodation.
