Dinas Castle Inn (The Dragons Back)

Huge breakfast - enough to fuel a full strenuous day in the mountains. Great friendly pub. Superb beers. Owners are exceptionally friendly and make the stay very homely. Evening meals are 'proper pub food'. No nonsense, decent portions pub grub that is getting harder to find but which is so much better than the awful gastropub fayre that many pubs are shifting to to increase margin. Location was super quiet and the genuine darkness outside was immersive - the Dark Skies location is a draw. The packed lunch is also excellent - hearty food and freshly made. Value wise, it's hard to beat. Travelled with a pre-teen who was made to feel very welcome and special. If you want a stay in a traditional pub in the middle of a spectacular nowhere with great food and drink, then this is the place for you.

Hard to fault Castell Dinas Inn. It's perfect for those that want to be fully away from it all in the mountains. Excellent launchpad for the Black Mountains and the Talgarth area, but easy access to Abergarvenny and Brecon. The Dragon's Back walk up to Waun Fach and down the incredible Dragon's Back starts from the door of the pub.

Food, excellent quality, quantity and choice. Location, set at the foot of the Dragons Back the pub is in an excellent position for exploring the wider Brecons. Rooms, comfort and cleanliness were excellent. Staff. Nothing was too much trouble for the landlady Julie, the young man behind the bar was very helpful. The breakfast. Needs a special mention. A full English fabulous feast.

Enjoyed a few days here, a great location with lots of walks directly from the Inn ( no early starts to get parked !!! ), surrounded by mountains. A friendly welcome, comfortable all round, fantastic Breakfast all freshly cooked and lots of it, provide packed lunches for anybody out hiking, Good food good beer and most of all a friendly homely setting to enjoy. Will be back again soon. Dog friendly which is always fine by me !!. Thank you so much for a lovely mini break, will be back for more soon.
