Panchkote Raj Ganges

Our stay at Panchkote was an absolute delight. The property is perfectly situated, offering a serene escape from the bustling city of Varanasi. The breakfast was delicious, and we particularly enjoyed our dinner at the hotel's restaurant, which was really tasty and homely. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, making us feel truly welcome. We're so grateful for their hospitality. If you're looking for a tranquil and well-located place to stay in Varanasi, we wholeheartedly recommend Panchkote Raj Ganges.

The food was amazing and customised to what we wanted. They also ordered in sweets like Long Lata and Malaio. Based on our special request they cooked Litti Chokha the traditional way. The insulation in the rooms was great. The property has a house temple, Angan sitout, two lounges, huge garden and a large Ganges front from where you get a full view of the Ganga including its beaches. It is right next to a historical monument. As a Zamindari property, it provided the best of old world charm in a 100+ year house with the original family - Ruchi and Hanu managing the property to perfection. Overall it was an OUTSTANDING property. Will definitely be back.

Initially I felt the property was out of the way but later really appreciated the calm and serenity of the space. Loved the location as it has an excellent view of the Ganges from a height and also its own access from the Ghats.The chirping birds in the morning really got me. The staff was polite, helpful, available & happy to guide. The food was excellent and had a variety of local dishes. The bathroom could have been more cleaner and fresher, and the bed could be a bit more soft, but overall the room was very comfortable and cozy.

Since I was travelling Solo, wish that I could've been able to talk with the host a bit more, on knowing about the city, the nearby spaces, and anything that might be of interest to see, and check out. Since the food was so well made I wish that I could've been guided on what local specialities to take back with me & also where to purchase them. Also some introduction and history about the property could've been told by the host to add to its already unique presence. Really appreciate, Rahul, Ranjit & Ram ( the staff) and Hanu ji ( owner) for thier graciousness, and the efforts to keep the property looking so beautiful and earthy at the same time.And of course Ruchi ji for the ease of extending my booking from 4 n - to 7. Thank you.

Staff Location

The staff here were lovely and attentive. The property and grounds itself are so beautiful with a very large and spacious room. It is so lovely and peaceful here and is the perfect place to getaway and decompress after a day in hectic Varanasi! Also direct access to the ghats and a private rooftop with a great view of the Ganges.

Breakfast is OK, but at the price for the room I did expect better. We had a pretty intense bug situation in our bathroom which was kind of gross, I would have expected the staff to clean better before our stay. Something had laid loads of eggs behind the bathroom mirror and so for the first 2 days loads of larvae/maggots were appearing in and around our bathroom sink. The staff did sort it out quickly though when we mentioned it. One of the doormen took our WhatsApp number because he wanted to 'practice his English', but then after we checked out he messaged us at 2am asking to bring him money.

very nice hotel close to the Ganges and the Hindu temple, nice garden, such an oasis after returning from Varanasi, calms the nerves :-), nice atmospheric room, I rested and was satisfied, everything ok.

The location was excellent for access to the Ganges, boat rides and ghats.

The property is run down and entrance disconcerting. There was very little welcome from the staff which added to the first impression. The rooms are good size and perfectly OK, but should be cleaner (an old pair of shoes was in the corner of our room, safety pin left in shower, nothing dusted or wiped) especially for what you are paying. The beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable. We were hoping for a stay that lives up to the other reviews.

The location is great, just outside the hotel there is the courtyard of a temple from which one could watch the ganges all day. Is also quite close (15 minutes walk) to the old city centre. The room was okay, clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast are good.
