Panchkote Raj Ganges

We were not given any instructions. For example we were not told that we had to turn on a switch in the bathroom to obtain hot water. Therefore our first shower was cold. We were also not told that we had to give in our key in order for the room to be serviced. They apparently have no master key. Food had to be ordered and eaten in room. There is of course a cultural/language barrier but this hotel is not recommended for non-Indians. Finally the other difficulty is that Tuk Tuk drivers don't know where it is which involved journeys with them asking directions about 10 times as they can't interpret google maps easily.

Location is great and the facility is very nice. Extra nice food at dinner and breakfast.

The staff is not very nice. The doorkeepers solution is weird and you don’t feel safe to come home after dark if you don’t have internet. The mattress of our room was worse than the one we had in second class train from Agra. They added a thin topper but it does not work at all. The price is very high in comparison with the other facilities in the town so I expected a good boutique solution, but we didn’t. It is above average of India rubbish in the parking lot and cleaning, but not enough for the price.

Location though it is way inside but has a wonderful feel of history and is on top of a ghat.

It’s way inside and since we were ladies we had to make sure we were back before dark though there is no need to be afraid in Banaras.

Beautiful guesthouse near all the sites in Varanasi while still being quiet and calm. Lovely rooms and garden area. Cozy and clean rooms, lovely shower. Friendly and helpful staff. Tasty meals. We loved our stay!

Great location accessible to the Ganges. Reached by a very narrow lane, but we didn’t mind this, but it is hard to get a car up there. Lovely little garden and the public areas were good. Also, the upstairs roof terrace was nice. They cooked us supper on each of the three nights we were there and their cooking was tasty. If you are staying there we recommend giving them to cook. We were agreed for six people in three rooms and it worked well eating there as they’re not any good local options. The staff were good. We loved the old man who looked after the gate and was always polite and very helpful.

Very expensive for what it is. We stayed there for three nights and our rooms were not cleaned and towels were not changed . There is only limited hot water and not enough for two people to have a shower . The rooms were quite damp and the beds extremely hard and the bedding very rough.
