Matamata Lodge

We loved this place. The perfect location for Hobbiton (very convenient). The host greeted us at our car, introduced us to his animals and gave us advice on the remainder of our trip. So warm and kind. The room was comfy and nice.

The place is nice and cosy. Just need more time to heat up the breakfast. Very near to MataMata town for food.

The toilet is a bit small and the sink is too small due to space constraints

The studio was perfect size for my daughter and I. It was super comfortable and convenient to Hobbiton. The breakfast was great. We loved it!

The Lodge was beautifully presented and very clean! There was a fantastic homemade breakfast prepared and left for us in the fridge which we enjoyed under the picnic table under the Oak tree with stunning views across the fields. Our host introduced us to the pet sheep and goat and even provided some food for us to give them which was an extra treat! They were also extremely helpful in providing suggestions of nearby places to visit. It is in close proximity to Hobbiton with many other things to do around the area!

We only booked one night!

This was the cutest apartment we stayed in during our time in New Zealand: The room was decorated perfectly, you could sense how much love the hosts put into every detail. The location is a bit remote which meant it was quiet and peaceful. Our highlights were the calves right in front of our room and the AMAZING self-made breakfast. We will come back for sure!

The hosts made us very welcome and everything was above expectations. We highly recommend Matamatta lodge, and wish we had more time to stay. LOVED it.

Beautifully appointed spot in a stunning location! The room itself is perfect and spotless and it was great to have the decking outside to chill on. So many lovely little touches, like the homemade breakfast and the bottle of port to have a drink under the stars. Also loved being able to go and feed the friendly sheep and goats on the property. Glenn was very welcoming and gave a us some great recommendations for things to do in the limited time we had in Matamata.
