Petit Ermitage

Fantastic accommodation in the wonderful town of Franschhoek. Very comfortable stay.

Beautiful place. We appreciated especially the warm hospitality by James, the owner, as well as the superb breakfast. The guesthouse is located at walking distance of restaurant (French connection highly recommended) and the wine tram.

A cosy venue that was very clean and comfortable.

James has thought of every detail in the accommodation. Everything a traveler could want or need was provided! The space was clean, beautiful and roomy and the location near the high street was safe and convenient. Communicating with James was easy and he had lots of helpful recommendations. A special thank you to Norma, who went above and beyond during our stay. We hope to make it back to Franschhoek and to Petit Ermitage!

Location, host, cleanliness, facilities

As per other reviews the location is superb. We were extremely comfortable here. The quality of the accommodation including the bedding was to be commended. We so enjoyed the freedom we had to use the lovely pool and garden and come and go as we pleased. The owner, James, and his assistant Norma helped us to feel very relaxed and welcome. We were trusted to enjoy the facilities using our own common sense without the need for "do not" notices all over the place, which was very refreshing for me and helped to make the stay. Thanks so much to Norma who set up a braii in the garden on our first evening so that we could enjoy some locally bought steak. We enjoyed our stay so much that I tried to book again for next year but it seems to not be available for our dates.

The Petit Ermitage is a cosy apartment in the heart of Franschhoek with an extraordinarily welcoming host, James and his wonderful staff member, Norma. The place is spotless clean and it has absolutely everything you could think of, from toiletries, coffee and honesty bar to table games, TV, a swimming pool for your own use and safe parking behind a gate. The breakfast is served from 08:00 on and you can select from a broad menu. Norma prepares it with care and it was simply fantastic! They were also so kind to take care of our laundry within less than one day. And of course James … this man is full of life, his good mood and positive energy is contagious. Such a friendly and open person!! James gave us excellent tips for restaurants and wineries (just have a look at his website) and he is reachable via Whatsapp. Thank you James for your generosity and for welcoming us at your place. All was perfect!

Very kind attentive host and we had a delicious breakfast. The room is Easily accessible to both the wine tram and the town. The pool was lovely to relax in after a day in the vineyards 😊

I cannot recommend Petit Ermitage highly enough! The attention to detail here is truly exceptional. The space is beautifully furnished, with thoughtful touches that cater to every need during your stay. Everything is immaculate and exudes luxury. I particularly appreciated the small conveniences, like the UK to SA plug that James thoughtfully provided—it was a lifesaver! James himself went above and beyond; not only was he incredibly welcoming, but he also graciously helped me reverse my car out of his driveway. His kindness and professionalism truly set this place apart. The breakfast was beautifully served outside with white linen napkin , fine porcelain and delicious wholesome food ! If you're looking for a remarkable experience, look no further than Petit Ermitage—it's a gem!
