The Lady Maxwell Room at Buittle Castle

This is a real haven of tranquility. We stopped off on our way from Cumbria to N Ireland to break the journey. We decided to dine at the Castle and it was an amazing experience. The dining hall was medieval with a fire and candles with just the 2 of us at the table. Superb food and wine and a real treat. The room itself is very comfortable and eclectic and very quiet and to have your breakfast served in your room is a very nice touch. We love this place - the history, the surrounds, the service - it is perfect.

Nothing ticked all that I was looking for

Loved the spacious room which has been maintained and decorated in a style which is really appropriate to the building and it's history. The owner was friendly without being obtrusive and the estate and its surroundings are stunning.

Wasn't enough coffee in the room
