The Lady Maxwell Room at Buittle Castle

Comfortable, period furnishings, excellent host, castle tour, breakfast & location

Excellent quirky room. Great communication from the host. Fab range of breakfast options. Quiet location.

Was cooked in kitchen but had to be carried across courtyard by which time it was just warm.

Everything. Room had musty smell, and very dusty. Bed was situated in an alcove on bare concrete floor, no covering, consequently one person had to climb over the other if toilet was required during the night. Very unsatisfactory.

The room was a welcome change from the stereotypical hotel/motel. It was full of character being decorated in the 'arts and crafts' style. You can well imagine living in that time. The surroundings are peaceful and atmospheric. The staff were very welcoming and we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast in our room.

Unfortunately the weather was not so kind.

Lovely surroundings, very peaceful. Brilliant communication from Tobias. Very comfy bed. Hot tub was lovely.

Wonderful location and historic interest. Extremely attentive service. James made us feel very welcome and looked after us well.

The location is right outside of the main town having breakfast in the main hall this place is full of history and the staff/owner are really welcoming and friendly

It was great to stay in such an historic place. The room was very atmospheric and the bed was comfortable. We appreciated the sherry!

It would have been good to have a couple of easy chairs.
