Barton Hall Country House

A truly unique and very spacious period property. We were in the Yellow Room which was beautiful. For a Bed & Breakfast, it was very useful to have a kitchen available for guests’ use. Ailsa cooked us a wonderful breakfast and made us very welcome. The other staff were extremely friendly and helpful too. This a traditional style B&B with table linen and china cups. The coffee was really good - nice and strong! There is ample outdoor seating for guests to eat outside.

There wasn’t anything to dislike, but be aware that one room does not have an en suite. Check carefully when booking.

Incredible setting with so much space and seating to explore, breakfast was lovely. The Host and her team were so welcoming.

Only negative thing I could remotely think of is the carpeted bathrooms but that is just my personal taste

We liked the old building and it’s original features

No security. No keys at all ! Not for the front entrance or for the rooms.

There was character bursting from the seams.

That the rooms didn’t lock from the outside, so our room was left open all day.

I was very happy that the house owner Ailsa, kindly welcomed me when I arrived later than expected - she was very warm and kind to me, and was very welcoming, which was very helpful after a long way traveling from the south and not feeling completely well. I called to notify that I might be late and Ailsa kindly was waiting for me and was very polite and kind to me.

The only thing I would improve is if running water in a form of shower would be available - there is running water but it was no actual shower and a bath was blocked, so it was a bit tricky to wash myself.

It is a dilapidated unsafe place. No locks on doors. We paid extra for ensuite but the shower was shared and a long distance.. No private kitchen as advertised. A creepy place. Only go if you want the Adams family experience
