"A unique rustic local homestay experience"

8.0

It was a unique experience with a local family that was super fun, accommodating, warm and welcoming. The food was exceptional. We did a cooking workshop that was super fun and educating. We would come again in a heartbeat

Only a minor observation - which is that there were no mosquito screens on the window/door. It is not common locally to have them and we knew this before we came, but it made falling asleep a bit difficult one of the nights

"Wonderful experience with kind family. Highly recommend!"

10.0

We had such a nice time staying at Lizu. My 6 yr old daughter especially liked visiting with the turkeys and playing with the youngest of the family (and another is on the way!) The family invited us to join them for the fair in the town - there were fireworks, kids rides, performances, snacks. We also took their workshop on natural dying of wool and were given a demo of their looms. We enjoyed our weekend so much that my daughter was very sad to leave.

The property is being improved and expanded and road is being worked on so there were some works in process during our stay, but this will likely result in improved access and facilities for future guests.

"Very good"

8.0

Hospitality of the host and his family, Unique and different experience Comfortable bed The workshop that was offered by the family to give a glimpse into their daily life and the zapotec culture Host and family went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. They arranged my transportation and tried in the best of their ability to offer the workshops or any other desire I had to explore in short notice. I also got the opportunity to visit a candle making process from their aunt. They also accomodated another night of stay as the weather got pretty rainy. I would definitely recommend this stay and workshops to anyone wanting to have an authentic zapotec experience in the village Bringing back lots of memories

Extra fees that wasn't mentioned prior.

"Restful stay with delightful artisan family"

10.0

The room had everything I needed to relax and chill out for a couple of days. The private seating areas had a lovely hammock to laze about and was a comfortable spot to read and write. I immediately felt welcomed with genuine warmth by all the family members, was able to observe their work and offered recommendations of places to visit. The Casa is a short walk to the main plaza for shops and restaurants. Dinner and breakfast were available when I didn’t want to go out. I loved learning about the designs of the textiles, being able to observe the work and understand the different stages. Wonderful stay!

Properly and stay was perfect for me. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The roads can be a bit tricky with Google Maps, not the fault of the hosts, so ask for extra directions if you’re not sure.

"True Zapotecan experience"

9.0

The place is very calm and spacious, the facilities are good and the family is very welcoming and made us feel right at home. It was amazing to get a glimpse of their lives and the amazing work they do with their beautiful textiles. They communicate openly and offer a variety of services from food to tours and workshops. 10/10 would recommend.

"Overall, provided me with what I was seeking for my short stay in teotitlan. Appreciated the families warmth and hospita"

9.0

The family was incredibly welcoming and sweet and made the effort to make sure I felt comfortable. If you’re wanting a unique experience for your stay, where you can observe and connect with a local family then this would be a good fit.

Turkeys quite close to the room which woke me up around 5:30am. If you’re a light sleeper this might be something to consider!

"Authentic homestay experience that made me feel like part of the family."

8.0

Welcoming, authentic experience in multi-generational family home of weavers. Loved the tranquil walk to the lake nearby and down to the bustling town market. Experienced the traditional Zapotec weaving with great teachers and took my own little rug home. This is a great place to stay and experience something authentic and really special, a highlight of my trip in Mexico for sure! The accommodation is basic but comfortable and homey, and the warmth of the family makes up for this and more. Highly recommend.
