Ruins Villa

In der Ruins Villa passt eifach alles, der Vermieter ist freundlich, unterstützend (ohne aufdringlich zu sein). Der Schutz seiner Privatsphäre ist im wichtig, dabei fühlt sich der Gast in keinster Weise eingeschränkt, das ist für alle super emphatisch. Die Räume sind großzügig, sauber, alles funktioniert und es gibt eine große Terrasse mit Blick auf den Garten. In diesem kleinen Dchungel kommen die verschiedensten Tiere vorbei, der Vermieter kennt alle und teilt bereitwillig sein Wissen. Durch die Lage neben dem Archeologischen Gebiet ist es auch noch sehr ruhig. Es gibt einige Fahrräder, da findet sich sicher ein passendes.

Everything was brilliant: Excellent value for money, the room is spacious and has everything you need. There is also very nice outside seating. Great home cooking, among the very best we have had on this trip. Wonderful location in the middle of nature with lots of wildlife, close to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. But the jewel in the crown was our host Upali, who went way above and beyond what might be expected. He helped us organize our tours and transfer for a very reasonable rate. He ran several errands for us. He gave us two free tours, both very informative: a night walk and a visit to the rice fields close by. And we had countless very interesting conversations with him about many aspects of life. We could not have asked for more.

Absolutely nothing

Tolle Unterkunft, total nette und zuvorkommende Besitzer. Wir haben für die Ancient City Fahrräder ausgeliehen, in der Unterkunft zu Abend und Frühstück nach unseren Wünschen zubereitet bekommen - und es war total lecker. Der Host war immer erreichbar und hat mit uns eine kleine Abend Wanderung gemacht.

L’accueil très attentionné du propriétaire qui m’a ramené un autre vélo quand le mien a crevé, l’environnement dans la nature, la proximité avec le site archéologique en vélo.

Il y avait une fête dans la maison voisine avec de la musique très forte. Mais c’était samedi soir…

Niets!

Coup de cœur pour cette petite guesthouse. Tout nous a convenu : le calme, la simplicité, l'accueil, les repas ... Nous regrettons de ne pas avoir séjourné plus longtemps dans ce havre de paix. La localisation au coeur du site archéologique est parfaite pour la visite. Le gérant est adorable. Il nous a proposé une petite promenade de nuit (gratuite) à la recherche des animaux nocturnes. Il nous a emmené gratuitement à la gare routière dans son tuk-tuk alors qu'on craignait une pénurie d'essence dans le contexte de l'attaque militaire toute récente en Iran.

Les vélos de location gagneraient à être entretenu parce que leur état est très limite... mais c'est vraiment un détail !

Het leukst was de wandeling na het eten met de host. De kamer was netjes, we hebben goed geslapen. Het ontbijt was heel lekker

De kamer rook erg muf. Nadat we m hadden gelucht was dat beter.

Upali is a wonderful hos. He was so helpful and happy to go out of his way to make our stay special. The villa is in a beautiful spot in a lovely village outside Polonaruwa. The grounds are extensive, including a large pond which is perfect for experiencing the magic of a Sri Lankan sunrise, surrounded by bird song and the calls of monkeys. It's also convenient for visiting the ancient city and Upali has a stock of bikes to hire for the day. The Sri Lankan breakfast was great too. This was our fist foray outside Colombo and honestly it was one of the highlights of the whole holiday. Many thanks Upali - I hope we'll be back!
