Old School B&B Super King Exclusive 5 Room private suite

This was our second visit to Orkney, the first being a back packing trip 45 years ago, so it was lovely to go back (this time with a car). Janice welcomed us into her beautiful home for a week in June/July and could not have done more to help us to settle in and explore the islands. The accommodation is spotless and surrounded by a pretty garden, with views over a small loch. There is just one set of guests staying at a time, so it is very private. Our suite gave us plenty of space to relax, with a breakfast room, bedroom, bathroom and lounge area, which had a fridge and a microwave. Two TVs and a DVD player meant that both our tastes in entertainment could be accommodated (the Euros were on at the time, so husband could watch football all evening)! Janice prepared a lovely breakfast each day, with everything cooked to order. The fresh fruit was delightful and we always had fresh milk and snacks for our room. Janice has great knowledge of Orkney and advised us about which attractions we needed to book in advance (essential for the historical monuments) and some lovely places to eat (booking restaurants in advance is also advised over the weekend period, and it is safer to book every night). We left refreshed and keen to return one day. The Orkney people we met were all extremely hospitable and friendly. There are some areas to avoid when there are large cruise ships in port, and it is a good idea to plan your trip well in advance to ensure that you can book the heavily subscribed sights such as Maes Howe and Skara Brae. We enjoyed some excellent food locally. The seafood in particular is superb. The quality of the local art, craft work and jewelry is also incredibly high.

Superb accommodation, spacious, cosy, views, fabulous location 15 mins Kirkwall, airport, supermarkets.

Excellent facilities in a beautiful location. Lovely views from the property. We enjoyed having a separate living room in a B&b. Fantastic fresh brekkie and Janice was so helpful about the local area.

The owner was very personable and accommodating! Tremendous resource for local cuisine and attractions. You will not regret taking the drive to Burray and enjoying this tremendous, peaceful home. Very private as well!

The location was perfect. The place was perfect. And on top of that, Janice, the hostess, was so welcoming, so friendly, and so helpful. She made us feel at home right away..

This has been our favorite stay so far on our Scotland trip. The Old School is wonderful!! Great location for all things on Orkney, immaculately clean and wonderfully appointed- excellent linens, comfortable bed and couch. Lovely to have so much room to spread out in a beautiful setting. Janice herself is a lovely person, wonderful host, and excellent cook!! I highly recommend!

I actually don't want to talk up this fantastic place, too much!!! It doesn't get much better. Thank you Janice.
