Fantastic garden, stunning views, lovely management

We love vintage houses, and this one is superb! Very well maintained, super clean, with so much attention to detail. The room was bigger than expected. This gem overlooks Lake Como and offers a breathtaking view. They have a very large, romantic garden where we enjoyed a glass of wine at sunset. At first, we were a bit worried about how we’d get to the B&B. We preferred not to take a taxi and chose the bus instead, which is just 1 minute away from the B&B. It was quick - no more than 10 minutes. The last bus from Varenna to the B&B was at 18:50, which worked well for us since our son goes to bed early. You can get tickets and find the stop near the Varenna info point. If you prefer to stay longer in Varenna and have a late dinner, make sure to prebook a taxi in advance, especially during the high season, as we were told there aren’t many taxis available in Varenna. If you take the bus, ask the driver exactly where to get off for the B&B - you don’t want to get off too early, as there isn’t a pedestrian path and you’d have to walk on a very narrow road.

The property was beautiful and very welcoming. The house was filled with paintings by Signorina Romana, the owner of this lovely place. If you’re looking for a peaceful and loving atmosphere, you should definitely choose this stay.

Too far up the mountain it’s a good 25 to 30 minutes car ride from Lake Como definitely need a car and not to be frightened, of driving on mountain roads

We LOVED our stay here! Bed & Breakfast Papillon is located approximately a 10 minute drive from Varenna. The location is fabulous to get away from the crowds and set in a beautiful garden. Romana is the most wonderful host, and provided a very nice breakfast for us as well as recommended places to eat nearby. The parking lot is just a few minutes walk from the Bed & Breakfast and the area was free.

Only that we had to go home, we didn’t want to leave!
