Guests highly rate the charming atmosphere and frequently praise the good location.
SGThe nostalgic decor and feel. A very refreshing change from the usual hotels.
There wasn’t anything major I didn’t like about the property. Just that mosquitos from outside can fly into the room as there were gaps between the wooden grills and the glass windows.
VNThe place is very cozy and nostalgic. Check in details is clear and the host is very responsive, even when we check in quite late due to traffic. There is a cute cat staying. The cafe has good food for good price.
The room is quite old, the furniture some parts are not very clean. The bathroom can be take care of better. No trash bin in the room.
GBVery friendly staff and the most beautiful onsite cat EVER. Wanted to take her with me. She sat with me for breakfast each morning. Lovely quirky furniture.

INSuperb old style traditional house and the room also was amazing and total value for the price. Location was very good. Close.to Jonker street and Dutch square. Colin is a very friendly and helpful person. I enjoyed my time in Malacca and loved the food as well.
BRColin wasn't there for check-in but sent very detailed instructions on how to get in. The room was clean and very spacious. There was no stress during check-out. I liked the originality of the place and the homey feel to it. Although Tuesday was their off day, Colin's wife was there to prepare breakfast from 9am to 10am, which was simple but nicely cooked.
There was no rubbish bin in the bedroom. The fan was making a little bit of noise when it was on, I think it just needs a little maintenance, and their cat was miaowing for a while outside my bedroom window to come in a couple of times. It looks like when guests are not there, the cat will come in that way. It would be nice to have a top bed sheet on the bed in addition to the duvet. Seeing all the cleaning products, spare single mattress, and other things parked before the entrance to the bedroom "Otak" was a bit inconvenient. I understand this might be because there is no storage space, but perhaps the spare single mattress could be placed elsewhere. It would be good to add the cafe's opening hours and your off days to the advert. It would have been lovely to see the cafe in action.
NLThe guesthouse is located within walking distance from the Jonker Walk.
In spite of all the good reviews of this place, we were really disappointed. It’s of course a cheap accommodation but it’s in need of renovations/maintenance. Our shower wall was stained and mouldy, the furniture was not cleaned properly and the floor is so creaky that when other guests walked past our room it just sounded like they were in the room with us! Our room had a window facing the inner courtyard and was positioned right above the cafe which meant that we could hear and smell everything. The shower leaked for the whole night and the AC was so noisy. We had a closet with a pile of dirty old pillows. There was also no bin in the room and a water dispenser outside in the hall but not refrigerated so the water was always lukewarm. And since it rained when we were there, the floor in the hallway was all wet.
SG- Cozy feel, just like staying overnight in a Peranakan friend's home - Near some notable snacks places along Jalan Tengkera. Walking distance to Jonker Street. - Food served in the cafe is delightfully delicious!
- warm weather made Otah very hot in the afternoon. Aircon couldn't cool down the room. Maybe can install curtains to help? - Pai tee has no TV. Thankfully there's free WiFi for other entertainment instead. - Water pressure not strong and sometimes the heater don't work. Had to shower with cold, slow-flowing water at times.
AUWhat a treat to made to feel so at home even during a brief 24hr excursion to Melaka. Colin was very responsive replying to my queries regarding an earlier check-in time, and was an efficient and friendly host upon my arrival. The rooms (named after Malaysian classics, e.g. 'Otak') are spatious and comfortable, with all amenities as advertised. Central to travel on foot to all the significant local sights; I walked along Jonker St, visited Kampung Kling Mosque, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, Baba and Nyonya Heritage Museum, Warrior Monument and Bukit Cina, and Villa Sentosa. I did not have the breakfast, but the option was much appreciated.
Bathroom could have some hand soap in addition to body wash.
