"Cozy Byre in location with stunning views."

7.0

The view from the location was absolutely stunning. The host left us milk, butter, eggs and bread, which was very helpful and a nice surprise. It was very remote, which we liked. We had a lovely walk from the property to Culkein beach and on to the natural arch.

There was no bedroom furniture to unpack our clothes, which was awkward as we were staying 3 nights. The bedroom window which was also a fire exit wouldn’t open. It became very stuffy as it was unusually warm weather and we could not leave the door open for ventilation (the window was very small).

"Superb place to stay in a superb location."

10.0

Lovely place to stay and although remote it’s in a great spot along the nc500. The Byre is very nicely decorated and has everything you need for a comfortable and cosy stay. Mark and Monica are very friendly hosts.

It was perfect.

"Disappointing"

6.0

Comfortable furnishings, bread/ cake and eggs a nice touch but booking.com says breakfast but we were never asked or given the option - a bit confusing really.

Notice saying couldn’t have door open in case wind caught it - (change it to bifold? Or sliding) - weather was great when we were there but too hot inside and would have liked door open. Yes we opened windows we could access. No information about local walks - walked to beach to find you cannot access it - some info would be good. Fire door blocked by stuff by door not ideal. Then you have to clean - we always leave tidy but I generally don’t expect to have to hoover or strip beds. Why the 4pm check in if previous guests have done the work for you. Owners managed to give us a wave but didn’t come over to introduce themselves but spent the day cutting wood to panel out their van (so not a totally relaxing experience) with a band saw going.

The byre was lovely. Perfect location for exploring the area. But also plenty of games, books etc if the Scottish weather is unkind or your preference is to just relax . The towel and blankets for the dog where a lovely touch as well.

"Stunning location. Incredibly beautiful and cosy cabin."

9.0

This is an incredibly cosy cabin, yet there was definitely enough space for the three adults staying there. We were able to cook an evening meal for ourselves, and then had the treat of the hosts providing breakfast for us! The setting was incredible and we witnessed an amazing sunset. We would definitely stay here again.

We would have liked a mirror in the bedroom as, with three women staying, there was no where to blow dry our hair with a mirror.

The rugged and remote location appealed to us. The cabin had every creature comfort and was very warm, even though the heaters were not on when we arrived we didn't light the fire as it was warm enough. The bed is very comfortable. It was lovely to see sheep strolling past our window!

A light blanket would have been good for when the doona is too hot
