Donner Lake Inn

The property is family owned, and they show a great amount of care in ensuring you have a wonderful stay. They’re extremely accommodating, and make the whole process extremely easy so that the only thing you have to worry about is your stay. There’s great views of the nature around you, and the rooms really give you that cabin vibe.

With our stay we actually have no gripes. Typically I could write something here but this time I actually don’t have anything bad to say. We really did enjoy our stay.

The bedroom was very comfortable. Amazing hot tub location right next to a rushing stream. The breakfast was excellent, especially the cheddar scone and overnight oats! I loved the fact I could get there without driving, by train to Truckee then the amazing microtransit TART service. And very helpful local restaurant recommendations!

Would have liked oat milk for coffee in the morning, and yoghurt without gelatin. Would have been great to have some trail suggestions in the room.

I loved the location!!! Beautiful view and very close to the lake. Nice morning walk to see the sunrise on the lake!

Can't rate the staff since we didn't see anyone. Decorative pillows were dirty and caused allergy symptoms when we were next to them. The bunk bed had a crack in it so my daughter was scared to sleep underneath it. Shower very small! Trash outside was full and next morning it was on the ground spread out around the trashcan.

Great breakfast

The Donner Lake Inn is a quiet inn that is geared for eco-friendliness. The room was clean and the inn is located close to Truckee and parks.

Pro: Studio room w Bunk bed works great for a family with 1-2 kids Good driving distance to ski resorts in North Lake Tahoe; Across the street from Donner lake so should be good for summer time too. Grab-to-go breakfast is with fresh pastries and hot egg burritos 48-hr cancellation term works great for families with smaller children (think about a time when kids get sick and you have to cancel the trip) Cons Super tiny shower space. Seriously the smallest I had ever used. The shower head position doesn’t work well for small kids. They would be forced to have a shampoo every day hahah. Better to have a removable shower head. Good that the toilet and sink are separated though. Not enough dining options within 5mins driving Wish list: To include milk in breakfast options. There’s good variety of coffee but having milk would be good for kids Open up the breakfast place during the day (or evening) for access to hot water.

Excellent stay at Donner Lake Inn. Peaceful and beautiful location next to the river, responsive service and an excellent breakfast. Definitely will be back!

Breakfast was delicious. Self serve check-in and check-out was super convenient. Beds were comfortable. Wish there was a tub for the little ones to take a bath/shower in but we managed with the shower stall. Parking could have been a bit cleaner with icy patches for little ones to slip on.

Great breakfast including delicious breakfast burrito. Quiet room and convenient for families.
