Dream Villa Sigiriya

From the moment we arrived, the host and his wife made sure that we were looked after to the fullest extent. They took our bags to our room, prepared a beautiful welcome decoration on the bed in the shape of an elephant and gave us plenty of thoughtful recommendations for activities - including useful advice about going out at night due to the presence of wild elephants in the area. They made us a delicious, filling breakfast every morning and the host even set up a private romantic dinner on the rooftop. We had all of our taxi transfers arranged smoothly for a reasonable price, and the host checked that we were okay when we arrived at our next destination safely! Everything was clean and modern, and we could not have asked for more. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit Sigiriya, and feel like our experience would have been nowhere near as amazing without their care and hospitality.

Our only regret was not being able to stay there longer.

Amazing room - super clean, great AC and the best cooked breakfast Sanath was so helpful with arranging me a taxi to Kandy and also driving me at sunrise for the Pidurangala hike! Please if you have a chance have dinner here - the best curry I’ve had in Sri Lanka

I had a wonderful one-night stay at Dream Villa, which is run by a very kind and welcoming couple. The dinner and breakfast were fantastic and copious. I highly recommend the fruit mocktail offered with the dinner. The owner has a tuc tuc and is happy to transport you to local attractions. The owner brought me to Pidurangala Rock and arranged for transport for me to an ayurvedic massage clinic and to the Colombo airport. The hotel is very well located, within walking distance of Sigiriya Rock. The room was large and clean. It had a mosquito net, but I didn't need it, as there were no mosquitos in the room.

The main thing was how friendly and attentive the owners are - they go the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need. We felt really welcomed and safe! They organised tuktuks and private taxis whenever we needed. The location is ideal as it is just off the main road so there isn’t any noise but still in walking distance to most places. The room has everything you need; it is clean, the air con works well and the bed is comfortable. For £15 a night it is really good value for money.

We’ve been travelling Asia for 5 months and this is our FAVOURITE place we’ve stayed. Sanath, Lakmini and their family are perfect hosts. They are so friendly and really care that you have a good time. The room is spotless, comfortable and the aircon is great. Lakmini cooked us dinner twice and they were the best meals we’ve had in Sri Lanka. You have to get one of Sanath’s cocktails too! Breakfast was equally delicious and different every day. We booked a safari through them and Sanath came along to help point animals out. When we didn’t see any elephants in Minneriya they took us to the Eco park for a discounted price. We also used their laundry service which was good and reasonably priced. You will love staying here.

Perfect location a short walk from Sigiriya, very nice and clean room, excellent service and hospitality

Everything was absolutely amazing! We have just left from two nights here and I can’t fault it, after travelling for almost 5 months I can safely say this is the best place we have stayed. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming, we really felt at home here. They did us a beautiful meal both nights and breakfast too which was delicious! The room was also immaculate and clean! They also organised us a lovely sunset boat trip to see lions rock which was also beautiful. We will never forget them and will definitely be a highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka!

The room was spacious and comfortable (with A/C). Located next to the main road in Sigiriya, it is at walking distance from all the restaurants and bars. Breakfast was superb - we are still in Sri Lanka and haven't had one as good. However, what made the stay special and outstanding were the hosts. Sanath and Lakmini were very attentive and helpful, arranging transport and recommending the best activities. In fact, we have left, and they are still helping us with transport in Sri Lanka if needed. If anything, we regret not staying a bit longer. Sigiriya set a very high bar for the rest of the trip largely thanks to staying at Dream Villa.
