Rockport Harbor Hotel

It is a great hotel and working on some growing pains but would definitely come back!

Each summer we explore coastal Maine. Without a doubt, the new Rockport Harbor Hotel is the most upscale, and appealing hotel /inn or B&B we have found along mid-coast Maine (the rooms were nicer, and bigger than the Camden Harbor Inn). Our water view suite on the 3rd floor included a large bedroom (with T.V.), good sized L.R. (with large T.V.) next to the adjacent balcony, and a large bath with soaking tub (also in room mini fridge, coffee maker). The top floor Atrium restaurant (with small bar) seats about 40 (some are balcony/outdoor tables) and the food was well worth a visit even if we had not been hotel guests (although the Atrium is less upscale than the photos suggest). The restaurant is somewhat casual and we almost wished there was a dress code (a few diners were wearing saggy jeans with holes and baseball caps). Our only complaint was that our server was in need of better training (no clue as to describing menu items), but he and everyone else was upbeat. The 1st FL breakfast room (the Oak Bar near the lobby) offers a decent breakfast (house coffer is weak, sour). The hotel's location (just off RT 1) on the harbor is ideal. Although Rockport Harbor is small it is very picturesque, more so than Camden, or Rockland Harbor (which is more of a working harbor and island ferry terminal).

Fabulous! We stayed here for 5 nights, family was nearby. We LOVED our stay experience. The room suite was very comfortable, spacious, relaxing and romantic - the soaking tub, the fireplace. The entire staff are so nice, shout out to Matt Levin. The restaurants are great. Had breakfast daily and Atrium, the rooftop restaurant is very good. Camden is a 5 minute drive down the road and more popular of course but you cannot beat that view from either your room, breakfast /dinner. Easy to get anywhere from here too. Highly recommend.

Peaceful and so comfortable! Staff was great and food was terrific

Excellent building and location but the service elements were lacking. Hence the rating. If the hotel ups their service game I would give it 4 stars. If it ups the food I would rate it 4.5 stars. Upon arrival we had to request bellhop service. When brought to the room, which was great (5stars), it was freezing cold. The hop was eager to show us the fancy mirror lights in the bathroom, and after asking him where the thermostat was he showed it set at 64F. Never told us about the second thermostat in the sleeping area which was set at 62F. So much for eco sensitivity in the write up. He never showed us the TV set up which took us 30 minutes to solve because there was no visible guide - hidden on a shelf out of view! We’re not big TV watchers but we’re looking forward to the Olympics. So a bit of a downer. Then the breakfast was below par on both selections and quality. Most surprising was the very poor quality of the coffee. The second morning we chose another location for breakfast. If management fixes the service and food we would be back in a heartbeat.

This hotel is beautiful, luxurious and has stunning views of Rockport Harbor. I would have given it 5 stars, except for,the fact that the restaurants are understaffed and not well run. First the best part. The room was just gorgeous, with a balcony overlooking the harbor, a large sitting area between the balcony and the bedroom and a comfortable bedroom complete with gas fireplace for cold nights. The front desk staff was terrific, handling check in smoothly and providing luggage service to our room. There is an ample parking area out back with direct access to the lower elevator lobby. We slept well and enjoyed the use of our room. The hotel is well located with easy access to Rockland and Camden attractions, parks and restaurants. The restaurants at the hotel left something to be desired. We made dinner reservations for 2 at the Atrium, their fine dining restaurant. It is rather small and there were only a couple of two person tables, neither of which was well located. We had a choice. A table by the wall near a family with screaming children and a table closer to that family. We were told that we could not be seated and any of the empty four tops since they all were reserved. We elected to,leave and ultimately went to the lobby restaurant, the Oak Room. Dinner was not gourmet - fish tacos and pizza- but it was good and the service, while not great, was passable. The second night there we went to a great lobster pound for A fabulous Maine lobster dinner on the water. O Wish I could say the same for breakfast. The first day we ordered omelets and told the waitress my wife could not tolerate pepper or other hot spores and to use no seasoning. When she bit into the omelet her mouth felt on fire. The waitress checked it out and returned to say all the vegetables and other ingredients put into the omelets were pre-seasoned. She sent it back for some scrambled eggs. The next day we just ordered eggs, mine which were over easy were runny. And the blueberry muffins were terrible. How can you ruin blueberry muffins in Maine? The service was sketchy. Not really the fault of the server. The one cook was plainly overwhelmed and there were not enough staff to competently serve the customers. .

We loved the Rockport Harbor Hotel! The views are magnificent and the decor is fantastic. The attention to detail is amazing. The bedding, the amenities and the furnishings are all first rate. We ate in both restaurants and each night we had a superb meal. The best part was the staff. Each was cheerful, knowledgeable and anxious to assist us in having a magnificent stay. We cannot wait to go back!

Immaculate

Was wandering through Maine and decided to book a room here. It could not have been more lovely. The room decor was gorgeous-so much attention to detail. High quality linens and towels. Heated bathroom floor, huge tub, fireplace…room that overlooked the water…I could go on and on. Just spectacular. Staff was also very friendly-gentleman, that checked me in, walked me to my room and made sure I knew how to use all the features. I don’t believe the hotel has been open super long, but someone has put a lot of time into making this a memorable place. I will definitely be back-this place is a gem!
