Altitude by Krystal Grand Los Cabos – All Inclusive

We went in with lower expectations for this resort and were blown away. Yes- the food is not the best (momma Mia down the beach was great and the resort restaurant closest to the beach was great for breakfast). However the location is great, amenities were clean and the view was fantastic. Ubers were cheap into town and to a more “swimmable” beach. We were contacted a week before by Gabriel the Expedia concierge who had a desk in the lobby - and he was outstanding. Honestly made our trip. Upgraded our room, helped when we needed water or a key. But he also found our lost wedding ring! And then coordinated for us to get it back- both Gabriel and Mario were very helpful. Our room had a couch that folded out that was big enough for my daughters (6/8) to share. Over all we really enjoyed our stay.

Room was a one bedroom suite 750 sq ft. Run down furniture , small bathroom air conditioner sounded like it was getting ready for take off. Rooms are along the highway and all you hear is traffic noise all the time. Room is nothing special maybe a step up from a hostel. Food options limited , buffet sucked , sit downs were just okay. Good thing for the staff it’s about the only thing that made it all right. Older run down property which is charging an arm and a leg , you can find better properties fro same money. This one would be a 3 star at best.

We arrived at night, outdoor lighting in the garden was very pretty. In the daytime you can see the property needs painting/fixing/maintenance. Not a 5 star, maybe 3 1/2. Food was fine. Other guests either really liked the food or didn’t. Read other reviews about the drinks and I would agree, either drinks were very strong or seemed to have very little alcohol. We are not big drinkers so I didn’t care, after I saw they re-used all the plastic cups which appeared to be rinsed not sanitized I was less interested in having a drink poolside. There was a kids area but I saw very few children. There are very few activities organized …I mean if you have to list your single ping pong table on your website not much is going on here. Front desk staff seemed unhappy, waitstaff and housekeeping were great. My biggest complaint and in 10 visits to all inclusive Mexican hotels I have not had this - there is no evening entertainment, no shows, no magic show, no comedy show, no Vegas show, NOTHING! They have a tiny alley way area they that seats 10 for karaoke or they had someone playing a violin etc. Not enough poolside loungers. Also, the tables in the lobby areas are full of time share salespeople. For the guests who went on the “90 minute” presentation said they were there for 4 hours - for that they got a discounted or free tour. Not much to see in Cabo, the oldest church was built in the 70’s. If you are easily bored organize some things to do as the resort is boring.

This resort was one of the more affordable resorts. The location is right on the beach so it was easy to take a long beautiful walk. There’s no swimming (due to crazy waves). The only down side is that the resort has the beach on one side, and the highway close to the other side. The rooms weren’t sound proof, so you’d hear the constant waves crashing and loud traffic. There’s no special nights (white party/silent disco/foam pool party) but you get what you pay for! We sat by the infinity pool all the time and it was great. Lots of lounge chairs in the shade and in the sun. The buffet food was okay, the restaurant food was great!

A few highlights of the property-book the full package and get the amenities of the Altitude Club-get a room in that section on the beach or a junior suite in Krystal. Gabriel from concierge was amazing and booked all the reservations for us, made life easier. Go visit Hugo the bartender at Altitude Sky Bar-he's a gem! Food was hit or miss, could have been better, the hibatchi restaurant and taco night was the best in my opinion, and that was great. And everyday at this resort, you see the whales in the ocean, they put on a great show and the restaurant rings the bell when they see them! The beach in this location was beautiful.

Everything we could possibly needed was covered. Breathtaking room view. Clean room and facilites. Courteous staff. Buffet was excellent especially for breakfast and lunch, always staffed well. The ceviche did not disappoint. The sushi restaurant was also very good. Daniel in the Cafe and Alfredo in the bar were tremendous at taking care of us. Excellent location into San Jose del Cabo, short uber rides to good swimming beaches. Definitely reccomended.

Best open beaches I've ever seen. Simply a beautiful resort.
