The cabin are nice but really cold. No heater.

There are not rules for guests. People who stayed that night, they turned off music at 4;00 am. Even though we complained at 1:30 am they didn't stop the music. We could not sleep well that night

"Lovely oasis near the Monarch butterflies"

9.0

The location is a bit out of town, probably 10 minutes by car, but it has a restaurant on property, and a small store within walking distance. It is beautiful, tranquil, and the staff is incredible. My cabin was rustic, the bed was very comfortable, and the location was perfect for visiting the butterfly sanctuaries, le Rosario and Sierra Chincua.

If you are a light sleeper, there are a lot of chickens on the properties nearby, and they will wake you up in the morning. I did not find this to be a problem.

"Our stay here was excellent and Marco arranged exactly what we wanted to do in and around Angangueo."

10.0

Marco and Patricia our hosts were excellent they were so helpful. The breakfast was good as were the evening meals. The taxi driver had a little trouble finding the location but once there Marco arranged all of our trips out as we did not have a car so the whole stay worked out exactly as we had hoped.

The cabin itself was spacious and comfortable but a little cool overnight, however, this was November.

"Overpriced and disappointing"

1.0

Only available hotel in the area. I was looking forward to the stay as it had really good reviews but we did not have a good stay.

The restaurant was closed and the hotel is not in town. It was extremely cold as there are gaps everywhere in the cabin. The shower was ice cold and sprayed everywhere in the bathroom even on electrical outlets. I asked if there was another option for a shower and did not receive a response. There was very loud music nearby for quite some time so it was not very relaxing. I asked if it was an event but it didn't appear to be, just loud.

"Rustic but comfortable"

9.0

Great place to stay when visiting the monarch butterfly reserves (both the larger el Rosario and the Sierra Chincua sanctuaries are ~39 minute drive away). Cabanas are as pictured - cute (lit up with fairy lights at night), spacious, clean, and comfortable if a bit rustic and bare-bones. Onsite restaurant was surprisingly good, it was nice to not have to drive to town for meals. Staff spoke very little English but was kind and helpful.

No heating or insulation, so during our February stay the temperature inside our room was 50 F when we would get out of bed. Hot water was a bit spotty (showers would start off hot then become lukewarm), and you have to turn the water on and wait for five minutes for hot water, so when not showering we basically were using frigid water for washing hands and faces. Wifi also spotty, was completely unavailable one evening.

"A charming spot to stay when visiting the butterflies — if they address their hot water needs."

7.0

Luis and his family are delightful and did their best to make us feel welcome. We loved the overall aesthetic of the place and the camp fire at night was fantastic! It’s a safe and secure little gem out in the country. The small on site restaurant was awesome too. It’s the perfect location to stay if you are visiting during butterfly season. There is an old hacienda ruin dating from 1600 that is a five minute walk from the property and there is also the San Felipe de los Alzati pyramid complex only 45 minutes away which is a worth a half day to visit.

Inadequate hot water and no comfortable place to sit in the cabin. They use solar heating for water which we fully endorse however there are seven or eight cabins that are daisy-chained from one source. We were the second to last cabin in the row so only got about a minute of hot water in the morning. It would be easy for them to add more capacity and I hope they will consider doing that. It’s the only reason I could not give a full throated endorsement of the stay.
