"North Cascades Alps Adventure Continues at Cascia Lodge & Ranch"

10.0

After our son's wedding in Seattle, my wife and I decided to see the Northern Cascades and travel across Highway 20 starting south of Bellingham and travel to Newport, Washington near the Idaho border where we have family. We purposefully wanted one stop to enjoy our drive and adventure. We chose Twisp, Washington about half way along the way. The "North American Alps" along highway 20 through the North Cascades National Park was spectacular with breath taking views of glacial lakes, shear mountain peaks with green forested dress, and dramatic cloud cover hovering in the valleys. Dropping through the Washington Pass be sure to stop at the overlook with parking and bathrooms. A short 150 yard walk to see the amazing valley pass and peaks is worth the stop for photos and natural surroundings with birds and butterflies in the Summer only (pass is closed in Winter). After our adventure through the "Alps" we were looking forward to our stay at the Casia Lodge and Ranch. This semi rustic ranch lodge sports hiking trails, horseback riding with Debbie (owner), or just petting the horses, amazing valley views and sunsets, and a comfortable room, no TVs, but WiFi if you must see your fav show at night. We enjoyed a delicious dinner cooked by Jason (owner) and served by a attentive team from both the bar and the kitchen. We sat by the windows and gazed out to an incredible sunset that just kept changing and getting more dramatic as the shadows grew across the valley. My wife and slept well and awoke to a cool morning that drew us out for a morning hike to the stables to pet the horses, play with the barn cats, and enjoy the flowers and glistening diamond dew on the grasses along our trail. We had a wonderful friendly conversation with Debbie at the barn who was prepping two horses for a ride with a family friend. She encouraged us to pick some apples and pears along the entry road to the lodge. She gave us a history of the lodge and ranch that harkened back to the days when it was an executive coaching ranch for the likes of the Seattle Seahawks. Debbie and Jason have owned the ranch for a little over two years and have assembled a great team. They have been in hospitality for a couple decades in the Seattle Area owning a few restaurants and getting to know their communities. She was familiar with the owner of Canlis Restaurant in Seattle, also a lovely restaurant overlooking Lake Union that we recommend. Be sure to meet Debbie and Jason when you visit Casia Lodge and Ranch. My wife and I highly recommend this getaway and look forward to a time when we can come in from LA and take more time exploring all there is to do at the ranch and nearby town.

"Pleasant experience but not luxury"

6.0

The lodge had lovely public rooms and a delightful small English pub and our room was pleasant although the bathroom was quite small, the towels, kleenex and toilet paper were subpar, about like the Holiday Inn and they only clean the rooms every 3 days, so the one trash can was full and no clean towels unless you ask. We had dirty towels sitting on the floor outside our room all 3 days. The restaurant was fine but not as good as Sun Mountain Lodge, although they had an excellent wine list. The staff were nice and helpful and we were given a $50 credit on the one dinner we had there as the other 2 nights they were closed due to a kitchen issue. The breakfast was good, one hot item and fruit, yogurt, pastries. So although it was a pleasant experience, probably won't go again.

"Beautiful grounds and views!"

8.0

Casias grounds and views were absolutely stunning! We loved sitting out back to enjoy sunset and watch the people go by on horseback. The rooms could use updating and walls are paper thin. We could hear our neighbors conversations in the next room over They do provide you earplugs which were appreciated. Breakfast was nice and healthy but wouldโ€™ve appreciated some more hearty options like eggs (not just hard boiled ) instead of a bunch of pastries. Overall, great stay and experience

"Lovely quiet comfortable and secluded getaway. Nest time we will stay two nights."

9.0

The location is wonderful as is the staff, the ambience and the furnishings.

Breakfast was disappointing, possibly too healthy for me!. The hot water for the tea was tepid, even after requesting a new thermos.

"Relaxing resort, great ambiance, marred only by a squeaky bed"

8.0

Such a great resort in a quiet, off the beaten path spot. So relaxing as a two-night stopover between Glacier and Seattle. We used the pool, hot tub, and movie room. Kudos on leaving amenities open late (seriouslyโ€ฆplaces that close hot tubs before 10pm are frustrating). Breakfast was very good on our first morning (less fresh but still ok the second day). Kind staff. Great ambiance.

Our bed was crazy squeaky, to the point that any movement impacted sleep quality. I get that itโ€™s an adult-only luxury-style resort, but dinner prices unreasonable so we drive 10 minutes into town (found very good BBQ and solid Mexican options).

"Good"

4.0

Liked the property location- beautiful. Too bad the lack of hotel cleanliness, lack of water pressure in our sink, two insects in the bed, lack of staff ( no bartender, 3x we checked) and filthy entry carpet overshadowed our visit. This didnโ€™t qualify as a โ€œSmall, Luxury Hotelโ€ in our opinion. We were disappointed to spend our 44th Anniversary there.

"Casia Lodge is the perfect place to relax and unwind. We'll be back!"

10.0

My wife and I enjoyed the property as a whole! It sits in a beautiful location, on top of a bluff with an amazing view looking towards the Cascades. The room was very comfortable and quiet. We also enjoyed the small, boutique style of the hotel. Chef Jason's food is delicious and so were the drinks from the bar!
