Great staff, beautiful hotel, great staff, clean and updated rooms, and did I mention the staff! If you don't want to be in the middle of the Old Port area this is the hotel for you. A hotel is made by its team. From the front desk to the cleaning crew to the wait/bar team in the lobby, everyone makes you feel at home. They also make a hell of a decaf latte!

The lobby restaurant was excellent and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a nice hotel, but the service is magnificent. I would highly recommend it to anyone going to Portland

A wonderful modern hotel. Little details like a French press coffee machine, nice gym, toiletries, a separate reading room make all the difference. Will stay here again next time we are in Portland.

It was nice, but there’s no place to put anything because there are no drawers anywhere and no place except a very small area in the bathroom to put anything when there’s more than one person in the room.

The Longfellow was a huge disappointment. It's a case of a hotel trying hard to be trendy, and while they attended to the details, consistently, it was all the wrong details. You want to contact the staff, or check out of the hotel? No phones in the room, you have to text. And instead of the usual key card that fits in your wallet, you have old fashioned keys to lug around and potentially misplace. You want a functional bathroom? You get almost a full length mirror, but the sink is barely a couple feet off the ground, meaning you have to really stoop down to use it. You want a smart TV? Get used to controlling it from your phone, and be prepared to go through a cumbersome log-in process every time you turn it on. No Netflix or prime Video button on the remote. You want coffee? You have to boil the water yourself & make your own with a French Press, no simple coffee machine. You want an iron? Sorry, they only give you a steamer. You can dim the bathroom lights, but not the night light by your bed which is ridiculously bright. And the night tables were all form, not function. You want breakfast? You have to pay for it. That's OK, except that it was weird that the Francis Hotel right across the street that the same company also owns (where the rooms are cheaper by the way) issues free vouchers to the cafe in the Longfellow. OK, they have a town car that will ferry you into town, but when there are cheap Ubers around (Portland is not a big town), this was an unnecessary luxury. The saving grace is that the staff is friendly and helpful, which elevated this rating from one to two stars.

The Longfellow is a gem. The designers apparently gutted an older building and produced a first class., highly attractive hotel that wants for nothing in terms of comfort, design, room quality and service. It is a pleasure to spend days there.
