"A true “Artisan”"

10.0

Let’s go to Salem! To see witches? No Salem, New Hampshire to check out a relatively new Marriott property- that looks like a resort. What a property it is- truly unique; a true “artisan”. The property is located in a neat development called Tuscan Village, that appears to be growing. Local and national shops, cool night events and awesome dining experiences- all walkable from this property. The property itself is awesome- great decor and vibes. Clean, quiet ( heavy, heavy doors to keep hall noise out), modern finishings, bright rooms and friendly staff. Huge gym and a nice heated outdoor pool and hot tub with loungers and chill music. Easy to launch to the coast/outlet shopping (30 min drive). Parking on site, $15 self park with easy access to the hotel. I’ll pass on the witches and return to Salem, New Hampshire and this property.

"Poor choice for a romantic getaway"

4.0

Unfortunate management of a nice property. This was our 2nd attempt to enjoy this hotel which has beautiful amenities. My husband and I were looking forward to a romantic night We were at the pool for several hours trying to relax At any given point there were between five and 10 kids between the ages of maybe eight and 16 who were running along the child edge of the Jacuzzi and then either diving or front or back flipping into the pool right next to guests wading in the pool. They were screeching well inches away from head trauma as their parents ignored them. My husband is a platinum member at Bonvoy and said he will never ever go to this hotel again, but he doesn’t like to complain.. I went to the employee working the entrance gate to the pool, who was staring at her phone the whole time. I asked her if they were allowed to do that and she said no, but she had talked to the parents the day before and they didn’t do anything about it so there was nothing else she could do. I said well usually you give a warning and then if they don’t respond, you can ban them from the pool so that other people can enjoy the setting. She had no comment so I spoke to the manager. The hotel manager said what else can I do? There are several signs that say no diving. I reminded him that they could have the workers actually reinforce their rules and he basically said yes sorry and did nothing. Meanwhile, there were two other employees at the pool bar, who were just socializing with each other. It was a complete zoo!! At 9:45pm, we were laying in bed and there were multiple kids running up and down the hall screaming. I called the front desk and nothing was done about it. It’s really such a shame because this could be a classy hotel if the zookeepers did what they are supposed to do. Our first experience there was a similar issue, but with the loudest music I have ever heard even at a club at the pool and no one would ask the DJ to turn the music down. Other guests left the pool because they couldn’t deal with how loud it was, but no one stepped in and changed it despite multiple complaints. So if you want to go to a nice hotel that’s obnoxiously loud and disrespectful to its guests. This is the place for you.

"Families Beware: No Cribs, Dirty Pack-and-Play, Long Delays, Poor Service"

2.0

We have stayed everywhere from basic airport hotels to St. Regis, Four Seasons, and Aman properties and are Lifetime Platinum Elite members with Marriott (and previously SPG). We know the difference between true luxury and mid-tier, and we don’t expect Aman-level service here… But this hotel positions itself as “premium” within Marriott’s portfolio and fails badly to deliver! Check-in was insanely disorganized from the start: no bell carts (seriously, they just didn’t have any; that’s a new one! the bellman just dropped our bags in the lobby and left), no early room check-in despite advance notice, and then the real problem: they couldn’t even get us into a room at their own standard check-in time. With a pregnant wife in the third trimester and a toddler, we ended up sitting in the lobby and waiting. And waiting. No updates. No offer of a bottle of water. Nothing. Just waiting. By the time we were provided a room, it was only to find out that none of the items we requested were in the room (crib, diaper genie, pregnancy pillow, etc) and our luggage took another 45 minutes to be delivered while our child sat in a wet diaper. We lost our entire first afternoon and all of our plans were ruined because it was literally almost 5 PM by the time we were in our room with our luggage. The biggest issue, though, is that this hotel has no cribs. Yes, you can request one when booking! You’d think that means they have them, right? No. Instead, we were brought a dirty, sticky pack-and-play. For nearly $400 a night, this is shocking. Even budget hotels manage proper cribs. Our child has never slept well in a pack-and-play, and as I write this after 10 PM, he is still awake — while loud noise from the nearby venues, motorcycles and crowds in Tuscan Village makes it even harder. Other shortcomings: they actually don’t have nor provide pregnancy pillows nor diaper genies; nothing to support families. Cleanliness was lacking — my two year old picked up trash left that was left behind the media console and the pack-and-play they delivered was dirty and sticky as stated and we had to clean it thoroughly. My wife was disgusted. Lastly, the staff never acknowledged our loyalty status. No upgrade, no apology that upgrades were unavailable, no “thank you for your loyalty,” and by the way, to fellow loyalty members, this hotel doesn’t accept Suite Night Awards either. What’s the point of having them if no one takes them anymore? Marriott has truly gone down the toilet lately. Bottom line: this property is NOT family friendly, fails to provide basic and simple accommodations that most other hotels do, and deliver subpar service for the price. If you are traveling with children or expecting reliable service, avoid this hotel.

Excellent property luxurious spotless with great service. Bellman and check in with Darlene went smoothly. One small problem. We asked to extend our stay one day. They agreed and said the price would be the same. The next day the bill was $200 more. I spoke with the manager and he immediately corrected the bill and to apologize gave us a breakfast coupon. Beautifully handled and much appreciated. Great hotel with lots to do in the area.
