Gibson Manor Apartments

Place was quite very clean,grocery store close. Had everything that you need. Dislikes which can be corrected. Stains on bed sheets. Internet not working

Lovely old building which has been totally refurbished. Beds are comfortable, the area is very quiet, heating works well and the apartment itself is a good size. There is a nice pub nearby (Egremont Ferry) plus an Indian restaurant and some take-aways. There is a Tesco Express at the nearby petrol station and a Spar shop up a nearby side street. We didn't drive there but there is good-sized car park in the grounds.

As others have posted, this place would get 5-star reviews if some basics were resolved: 1. Owner did not reply to messages, 1. Internet not working. This was stated by the ISP Plusnet in its on-screen error message to be due to a billing problem. 2. TV channels not working as no lead from TV to the aerial socket in the wall. 3. Very little cutlery - one large knife, one breakfast spoon, a couple of forks and four teaspoons and that was it! 4. Sofa wobbly and it came off its legs whilst we were there. 5. No welcome pack or instructions on how to use heaters.

Location was good. Choice of bedding, plenty hot water, off street parking. Secure building.

Booking was for flat 10, but we were in flat 9. Description said flat was on the ground floor, but it was on the first floor. Description said there was a coffee maker and dishwasher. These items were not there. Instructions on how to use the heating and tv would have been welcomed. There are no TV channels on the TV or batteries in the remote. We were left half a toilet roll. No hand wash or soap in the kitchen or bathroom. The property is advertised as self-catering, but we had anticipated there being, at the very least, the making for a hot drink. There were some set rock-hard coffee granules, some contaminated sugar, and no milk. We were unable to make a hot drink upon arriving at 11.30pm. In the pan drawer, there was a very dirty /used grater. The cleaning fee of £75 is a bit high and made a two night stay quite expensive. Also, we had to contact the owner for details on how to access the flat as he had not sent them.

Easily found the keys, the flat was at the first floor, clean, comfort cosy and verry bright. The double beds were little bit small to our preference, but we had good night sleep. Public transportation was near, Tesco was near, the old building is just impressive, we enjoyed our stay.

Internet connection (Wi-Fi) was not functioning at all. When communicated to the host - the mail never got delivered although few previous were the same way sent and delivered. Besides that we enjoyed our stay at Gibson manor. Luckily I had UK Sim card so I could finish some work that unexpectedly had to be done exactly at the time we were in Gibson Manor.

Fairly new. Nice location. Spacious apartment.

No lift. No internet. No programs on Tele. Kitchen utensils (Frying pan, pots) are subs standard.

Finishing touches in the apartments were rushed and incomplete. Host didn’t reply to message which was frustrating.
