Frontier Hostel & Tours

Within walking distance of the airport, everything was perfectly situated. Loved the balcony to the main street, and the two windows on that side. The people here were extremely social and the elevator helped this old man. One note, the room can get dark during the night, even with the lights on.

The staff were the friendliest I have met. They gave me great recommendations and had a google map to share with you. I was communicating with them ahead of time to organise a bus to Mu cang chai for the following day. Good location. There is an elevator in the building. Has a water dispenser. Has a light and plugs by the bed. Mattress is the usual vietnamese hardness.

There wasn't a lot of room to put your luggage. Lucky there was only 2 people in the dorm. The locker is small and only fits my day pack so my luggage was at the foot of my bed which was almost yhe middle of the room. Would hate to see what it is like when the room was full. I think the AC has times when it turns off. I would wake up in the morning and it would be hot, maybe it turns off about 7.00/8.00am and on about that time in the evening. There were two beach chairs in the room, but not really anywhere even in reception to sit.

Great staff and location. We did a two- day tour with James to a local home stay and hike. Excellent! The hotel is near coffee shops and excellent noodle shops. Would certainly recommend.

The owner, Greg, offers tours and treks around Dien Bien Phu. Since I was on my own he managed to quickly organise a half historical/trekking tour for me. I went away for 2 days and had an unforgettable time there, I really wish I could have stayed longer. There are also free bikes to ride around the city center and the rice fields in the south. I 100% recommend booking their hostel and their tour, it is super authentic and you can really see what DBP has to offer. Definitely one of the highlights of my 3 month trip through Vietnam :)

Had to extend our stay here as we forgot to get visas in Hanoi! But all the staff were so helpful so it got done in 3 days! Bed was very comfy

Helpful and friendly staff, neat and tidy spaces, terraces for drying clothes, free water refill, free bicycles, bunk beds with curtains, few guests, cheap street buffets with veggie options in a walking distance, elevetor for the 5th floor where the dorm is.
