Bluff Shoal Motel

This is a very clean mom and pop owned hotel with basic amenities. The staff was very friendly. It is walking distance to food, shopping, and the ferry terminal. I will probably stay again when traveling through again next year. I highly recommend.

The Bluff Shoals Motel was an excellent choice for Ocracoke during the off season. Room was clean and comfortable. Amenities a bit dated but overall an excellent stay. The biggest selling point was the back garden that had the most stunning views of the harbor and lighthouse. Watching the sunset from the Adirondack chairs with a glass of wine was the perfect ending to the day. It was an added bonus that Dajio’s was across the street with some of the best food and service on the island. A must try for sure!

I like a motel..being able to open the door ..let fresh air in...loved being on Silver Lake.. deck for sitting and watching wild, boats, etc..Could use some new outdoor furniture..some broken, warped etc..not inviting

We really enjoyed our stay here. Very cute, clean motel, reasonably priced. It was close to what we wanted to see and Ocracoke island is beautiful. Beautiful beaches, wonderful time.

Bluff Shoals is an older motel located on the harbor that has been recently renovated by the new owners. The room was comfortable and quiet. There was a Keurig coffee maker that came with a half dozen Green Mountain Coffee pods including some decaf ones that was restocked daily. There is also a mini-fridge/freezer, cable TV and free wi-fi. The front porch has Adirondack chairs for each room. There is also a back porch for rooms 3-8, but room 3 doesn't have a back door to it. There is a large back yard and a deck with chairs overlooking the harbor. The backyard also has a bench swing and grill. The rooms are very quiet. You don't hear your neighbors. There was a band playing across the street at Dajio that you could hear while sitting on the front porch, but not in your room.

Bluff Shoal Motel was set up like an old school motel from yester-years. The staff was very respectful and polite and was willing to help however necessary. The room itself was nice but could use some upgrades. Beds were old and squeaked just from sitting down, some of the light fixtures in the room did not work, and there was no microwave yet they had a fridge. None of those items were deal breakers and I would definitely stay again but some things could be fixed to make the stay nicer.

Tolerable if neighbors are quiet. We were fortunate to visit beautiful Ocracoke in late December when the island is deserted so when our loud neighbors cranked up the music, we were able to move. Charming is my best description.

There is nothing fancy about the Bluff Shoal Motel. Rather, it is a small, rather old-fashioned motel right in the heart of Ocracoke Village. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the rates are very reasonable. The best thing the motel has going for it is its location overlooking Silver Lake. This is the IDEAL lodging choice if you're planning a visit to Ocracoke -- and you definitely should plan on visit! Ocracoke is a wonderful Outer Banks experience!
