Hotel Ankaa - Adults Only

Breakfast was good especially the man making the omelettes and pancakes. Pool area is really nice and room kept clean

First impressions of this hotel were good. Lovely, modern, clean reception with helpful staff. Unfortunately this it where it ended. The hotel has apparently been recently refurbished but there are a multitude of issues. Mold, peeling paint, broken equipment, leaking showers, window facing the shower with no privacy film , broken umbrellas and general uncleanliness The pool was also unusable for our entire 10 night stay. Upon reporting the high temp of the water to reception they implied we were the first guests to mention it. However, looking at previous reviews we could see that the issue with the pool had been going on for some weeks. We were constantly told the pool will be 'fixed tomorrow ' even told at one point that it had been fixed and the water just needed to cool down, to then be told 3 days later it hadn't been fixed as a part was missing. I would never book a hotel without a swimming pool, completely ruined our stay Apparently locals refer to the Hotel Ankaa as 'Fawlty Towers' and I can see why. The only time the pool and bar area were cleaned properly was when there was a photographer taking new photos, at all other times it was pretty grimy. Clumps of hair and dirt around pool bar area were there for a week! Thick cobwebs and dust on furniture in shaded seating area As the pool was unusable, there was a shallow 8inch pool made available to us on a roof terrace. This was in a filthy condition with bird faeces, insects and green slime. Definitely not a 4* experience

Das Hotel an sich war top. Die Mitarbeiter waren jederzeit sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Hotel ist sehr modern und sauber. Leider war der Pool zu dem Zeitpunkt „defekt“ und ein ganz kleiner Minuspunkt war die Klimaanlage im Zimmer. (Es gab nur 3 Stufen). Was für uns etwas zu schwach war. Beim Frühstück gab’s viel Auswahl (für jeden was dabei) & frisch. Jeden Tag gab’s bisschen Abwechslung beim Frühstücksbüffet. Es gab livecooking mit Pancakes & Eiervariationen nach Wahl. Ansonsten ein super Hotel welches ich immer wieder weiterempfehlen werde. Danke für den tollen Aufenthalt bei euch.

Arrived at 2 am to a very unwelcoming Receptionist, I seemed to be nothing but an inconvenience to this individual and I found the the whole checking in experience distressing (this individual is clearly in the wrong job and in need of training, I would guess she is related to someone at the Hotel to think her behaviour is acceptable and she can get away with it)?!? Silvia and Fadwa were quite the opposite thankfully, beautiful inside and out, kind, professional and nothing was too much trouble, they were so helpful... I had high hopes for this Hotel but have been left exhausted after a terrible week... it felt like an endurance test, the Hotels communal areas are modern and beautifully kept, however behind the scenes is a different story... my room and bathroom were tiny, dirty bathroom floor, inadequate air con, mold on ceiling, peeling paint on walls, skirting boards unfinished, shower overflowing onto bathroom floor. TV didn't work, the maintenance man came twice, replaced the telly and it still didn't work, he didn't return?!? I also had Cockroaches in my bathroom as did other guests. The pools thermostat was broken and apparently had been for weeks, the pool was like a hot bath in 36 degree heat this is no joke... their answer was to place 3 hose pipes into the pool which bathers lined up to use to cool off... there is also a small pool on the roof terrace, paddling depth which had green stuff and bird poop around it... The food is basic quality, quite a good selection but personally unappealing, apparently dinner was also hit and miss. I stuck to the yoghurt pot and there was a nice selection of breads... toasties from the snack bar made my stomach bad on the 2 occasions I tried them... no English breakfast tea (on order apparently) but was given 2 on each occasion I asked for them... The Hotel is at the top end of the harbour, it takes 10 - 15 minutes to walk down the hill to town, you will find a selection of restaurants and shops....my favourite was Perla Grill across from the Hotel, beautiful food, views and staff were super friendly. The Hotel felt remote, I travelled solo for the first time and made sure I walked back from the harbour before dark as I didn't feel safe... ventured out to Romantica beach as the beach at Porto Cristo is unlike the photos on the website, it's very crowded, not enough sunbeds, and pleasure cruises and glass bottom cruisers are in and out of the harbour, at 5 pm the locals decend with boom boxes and the games begin... volley ball etc... be careful if travelling solo on the buses, I went to Romantica beach and to return you have to climb very steep steps to reach the top road, there is nothing there except derelict buildings and a man was beckoning from the building to join him, 10 minutes later he returned in his car offering me a lift... he did leave eventually when other women arrived... please beware... My flight was at 23:50 and check out was at 11 am... I booked the staff shower in Reception for 6pm to find the room is not air conditioned and has no lock on the door... the receptionist assured me I wouldn't be disturbed and unfortunately someone did open the door... embarrassing!!! All in all a testing week and one I wouldn't wish to repeat.

Firstly Fadwa (reception )& Stefan & the all staff at the breakfast room & pool bar were absolutely lovely & couldn’t do enough We booked here for B&B When we first arrived ( 11 pm ) , after a very very long day , we wernt even greeted …had to look for the receptionist who was in her back office ( after 3 mins or so ) …to which then the whole booking in experience was absolutely awful ….the couple of ladies behind us were taken aback as well , & made to feel totally unwelcome & a hindrance , she was absolutely awful That left a very sour taste The hotel has two lifts Our room was on the fifth floor ….clean & tidy & some welcome free drinks in the fridge & a free safe The air con was mediocre at best and if u open the balcony doors it stops Had to keep it on all night The beds were comfy & sheets changed frequently The bathrooms although looked great had big niggles …..the shower leaked out the edge and that used a towel everytime , no fan or ventilation so that was an issue , the layout with the toilet in the middle …it just wasn’t great but the taps were nice lol Breakfast is a buffer style & very good plenty of choice you soon get your head around what is what The pool on the first few days had heating issues far to hot & they were hosing in cold water ….but in all it was a lovely pool and the sunbeds were a plenty The location of this hotel is a slight issue Across the road is the caves of drax ok tick , then there is the walk down the hill to the port & that’s it , as there ain’t a lot in Porto Cristo Then there’s the walk back up again So in summary Get up Breakfast Pool Walk down for evening food Walk back up for hotel Rinse & repeat If you wanted entertainment the hotel layed it on on a Tuesday & Friday a karaoke singer for €25 Wouldn’t stay here again Such a shame …

Hébergement au top, personnel très agréable, excellent service et coin piscine incroyable !

We stayed at the height of the heatwave and found the air conditioning in the public areas and the rooms was not fit for purpose. Our room on 7th floor got all the morning sun, and was unbearable, and some nights we were forced to have the balcony doors open, which resulted in us being bitten by mosquitos, and with a busy road next to the hotel, not much sleep was had. Perhaps solar film would be a good idea to reflect the heat. The hotel has been nicely refurbished, very modern, although the bathroom was tiny, some nice toiletries, but no tissues, and the toilet roll a good stretch away from where it is needed! Lovely waterfall shower flooded the floor as the glass screen was not long enough. There was very little atmosphere in the hotel, very few people ate half board as we did, and the food was adequate, but not outstanding, unlike the breakfast, which was superb. Also, a nice selection of lunch time food at the pool bar. The staff are fantastic, especial mention to Silvia on Reception, Stefan and Coral in the bar. Maybe we would return when the weather was cooler, but I doubt it, sorry.

Lækkert hotel i en by, som ikke er overrendt med turister. God service og flinke og imødekommende personale.

Dieses Hotel war wirklich eine Überraschung. Beim einchecken wurde uns ein Glas Cava zur Begrüßung angeboten.Das Zimmer war mit Balkon, die Größe absolut ausreichend. Es war hell und alles sauber. Es gab Wasser in der Minibar. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sensationell. In meinem Leben habe ich ein solch abwechslungsreiches und reichhaltiges Frühstück nicht gesehen. Der Pool mit der Bar ist sehr ansprechend. die Lobby ist mit wunderschönen Lounge Möbeln ausgestattet. Das Personal war allesamt sehr nett. Ich würde dieses Hotel sofort wieder buchen.

I came here with my partner and we did have a pleasant stay, however the pool was red hot, we didn’t get notified on the time of check out, they had nothing going on on a night time which I think would help a lot so it was only 2 nights that we stopped that something was on we are a young couple so didn’t really interest us. The location it self is very very nice but very little to do. The room itself was decent, the wifi didn’t really work. I would say if you are looking for a holiday destination that is a bit upbeat but still chilled I wouldn’t go here but if it’s a very quiet holiday you’re looking for then go for it. The staff were so pleasant especially around the pool they made sure you had everything you needed.
