-The hotel needs renovation -You couldn't swim in the pools because monkeys were diving in - it's not hygienic -In the mornings, the monkeys running loudly on the roof prevented you from sleeping -It was uncomfortable to wash in the shower outside, first because of the cold weather and the golden water, then because of the monkeys -The bicycles were old and rusty, the brakes didn't work well

The room and obviously out off of maintain. I booked the family room. And I found out the curtain was broken and there were a lot of tiny insects on one of the beds

The room layout was very nice, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were, on the most part, very helpful and friendly, the manager Mr Sameera V.Dissanayake was really lovely and helpful, and it's clear that he cares very much about the hotel, and ensuring that guests have a positive experiences. Our waiter was a wonderful happy guy who was very attentive and kind. As we were travelling on our honeymoon, the staff had very kindly decorated our room with towel swans, petals and leaves spelling out "Congratulations" on the bed, and our first meal there they set up a romantic table with lighting on the green roof terrace, slightly separated from the main dining area. The food was also really good. Each day they text you the menu options for dinner, which includes three courses, all of which are very good. Having seen that there were some negative reviews previously about the quality of the food, it's clear that the manager has taken this on board and really turned it around.

There are some areas where the hotel does fall down. The overall quality of the build is quite poor, like shower controls not fitted properly and sitting a few inches proud of the tiles, low quality sliding doors etc, which just fail to give off the "luxury" feel that could really make this place special. On the first day of our arrival the pool at our villa was not cleaned, with a lot of leaves, it's not heated, and the water level was low, so the water line was below the edge of the infinity pool. The filters weren't on either, so it wasn't at all appeasing to get into. However on the second day the water level was increased and the filters were on, however it still hadn't been cleaned and there was no heating to it. On one of the two days we were there our room wasn't cleaned. We left at 10am and came back after a day of touring temples to find that housekeeping had not tidied or cleaned the room, however they did come in to remove the breakfast tray. Which was odd, and not great. There is also a very poor/non-existent wine/cocktail menu. They have one red and one white wine, and the red was undrinkable. The cocktail menu had about 8 drinks listed, but they advised that actually they could only provide about 3. We stayed over New Years, and while they put on a wonderful dinner and evening entertainment, they didn't improve the wine/alcohol selection, so by about 10pm, everyone had left and gone back to their villas.

The location was beautiful. Staff was very kind and courteous. Great breakfast.

The overall ambiance of this place was amazing. The room size was spacious and there was private plunge pool with our villa. And then in the morning you get to have a lovely view of mountain side with clouds coming down. The staff were super friendly and took great care of us. Since it is way out of city center, the staff were really helpful in finding us car/tuk tuk rides for our city sightseeing. The breakfast was lovely and freshly done with tasty breads item. It is great for those people who just want to relax and stay inside the property for two three nights and then head to some other city.

The location as it says is 10kms away from city center. And with its location in the mountains it is not easy to find uber rides. However the staff do help out in every way possible. Secondly the price is quite high as compared to same quality hotels that we stayed at various locations in Srilanka. Thirdly the closest commercial activity area is also at some distance and as sun sets it becomes hard to go to find some snacks or things like that.

We had a lovely time staying at this property. The entire staff were lovely and professional and extremely helpful and caring. We felt like we were in great hands. The food was delicious and our villa was very comfortable. The views are remarkable.

The property is remote so plan accordingly. Also apart from the pool there is not much to do except relax so keep that in mind when booking.

The pool is dirty. They don't know how to make juice
