Grumbles Cottage at Loggerhead Yard

The location. the cottage was lovely. 4 nights stay

Bed on first floor was squeaky. And was uncomfortable. But the attic room was really comfy. So has there was only two of us we used the attic room. Also think the key lock box could do with changing it was so awkward to put the code in. Took us about 10 mins to get us to open it.

Location

The carpet at the turn at the first flight of stairs is loose, I slipped and hurt my back. I also sent the property a message asking if we could drop our bags a little earlier. Check in time is from 4pm and check out at 10am. All other properties it’s check in 2pm check out 11pm some are actually 12pm. I would not stop at this property again customer service very poor!

The location was excellent and very comfortable but you do need to be able to deal with very steep stairs inside the apartment

I didn't like the bed or the staircase very difficult to get up but it's an old house so not much you can do

Grumbles Cottage is in a great location.

Could do with a better selection of glass ware for drinks. Fridge container on door for holding milk and drinks missing.

Did not have breakfast. Which location,we did not stay where we booked on our first night, as you had double booked and we had to wait over an hour whilst someone finaly spoke to me and sorted out alternative accommodation for us. The whole experience was so stressful for myself, my daughter and granddaughter, we had not eaten and had to wait until everyone had settled into the new accommodation before we were able to go out to eat.

The whole experience we suffered because you had double booked Grumbles cottage and it was so difficult to get someone to help us sort this out. Your staff promised to phone me with new arrangements but no-one did, so I had to keep phoning and got no return calls. It was over an hour before someone did phone me and attempted to sort things out, I found it the most stressful of times after driving over 170 miles to get to Whitby, overall, apart from the man who finally sorted things out, the attitude of staff was terrible. The accommodation we finally got on the 17th was OK. We returned to Grumbles cottage on the 18th as instructed, only to find it had not been cleaned, bedding had not been charged and the wet towels left by the previous people were strewn over the bathroom floors, (not their fault). Again I had to spend time trying to speak with your staff and was again told they would call back after contacting the cleaners and ask them to come and sort thing's out. The cleaners arrived before we had the call back we were asked to leave and come back after one hour. It was possibly around an hour before we had the call back to say the cleaners were going to take time to clean the property and maybe we should go out and have a drink somewhere then return later. I told them i was very annoyed about the whole experience and I would make a formal complaint and request a refund on the money I had paid she said she would raise my complaint with the appropriate department. The whole experience was disgraceful.

Was booked for 4 guests but only 2 went. Would have been too cramped for 4 adults downstairs
