The only thing that is a problem is the turn at the top of the stairs

Great location very central and really well equipped

The property is in an ideal location central to Whitby and just a short walking distance to the shops/harbour. The beds were very comfortable and the property was warm and quiet. There were toiletries and towels provided.

The property had a fusty almost smoky smell. The carpet on the stairs and outside the first bedroom was soiled (possibly dog faeces) and had a very odd sour like smell and there were also stains in the upper floor bedroom on the carpet. There were also brown "drip" stains on the skirting board outside the first bedroom. After contacting the property I was told that they would send someone to clean the property, but after we had left our stay. They suggested in the meantime that they could send over some air fresheners. The smell did not disperse despite leaving windows open to air the property. This did have an impact on our stay as obviously you go away to relax. We spent most of the time out of the property when we were able due to the smell. The stairs are very steep and have two half steps at the top where it bends. I would suggest maybe a hand rail as it was extremely difficult to get upstairs as someone with reduced mobility. One of our party actually slipped down the stairs due to the shape of the stairs and possibly the fitting of the carpet

Sad to say but AVOID this company / b&b The apartment is perfect location but absolutely filthy , everything and I mean everything from blinds to shower heads and every piece of furniture is covered in dust. There was cobwebs and spiders handing from the stairs & stained bed sheets. Ontop of that the people who run it are the most unhelpful rude people I’ve ever had to deal with, cancelled our 3rd night without any communication/phone call and then said it was fully booked not 1 hour later when we said we wanted to stay, they wouldn’t let us move to another property despite owning and managing several within Whitby and wouldn’t let us cancel for free despite it being their fault. Check in 4pm and not a single minute earlier absolutely ridiculous when you have to beg for the key code I sent three texts in order to get the code. Borderline harassment with emails and texts about the property and things like booking a private chef, not needed. Also want extra money as a deposit when you check in - another con. Or you risk paying £500. If it was just the apartment (and it had been cleaned) and a key code to check in then I’d stay but the owners and the mess about is simply not worth it - they are not the only b&b in Whitby. I wish I’d listened to other reviews as I’m not the only negative one. AVOID.

Good location with 2 en-suite bathrooms which is why we’d booked as two couples who wanted a private bathroom

Very dirty on check in, we had to get the cleaners back and still was unclean. Carpets hasn’t been hoovered, stains all over them. Dust everywhere - one guest struggled with their allergies. Thick dust on every surface, hadn’t been wiped in weeks. Leak from third floor en suite (clearly not new as damp on walls and smelt of damp on check in), no one came to fix it and told not to use the shower - this is the reason why we’d booked 2 bathrooms! Opened complaint with company, nothing back since and that was over 1.5 weeks ago - very poor stay, given we had to clean the property ourselves and leaking through the ceiling from the third floor to the ground floor.
