the residence oozes history and period furnishings. spacious rooms and bathroom, excellent views, easy plentiful parking, quiet leafy surrounds. The outside of the building is a little tatty but thatr adds to the charm. The interiors are clean and in good order, including plentiful heaters. Share kithchen with fridge, hob, oven, toaster & microwave. comfy beds. never saw any staff but thats not a bad thing.

Bottled water only to be used for drinking which is supplied. water was turned off our last morning without warning. Breakfast is juice and sweet croissant... could include cereal packs, UHT milk, bread and jams for toaster, but not a big issue.

Communication about how to get there and how to get the key from the key box was good

We were unable to drink water as a health warning prevented it so a 2L bottle of water given. A basket of breakfast pastries and juice was promised in our room but none given. The bedding was not the cleanest and the shower dirty.

I didn’t get to see the property

The long driveway was extensively covered with deep gravel which, being on a motorcycle, was extremely difficult to navigate, almost falling off on a few occasions.

Place a bit run down. No TV. Communal frig.

The property is in a good area needs a little tlc, room is tired and needs updating a little in my opinion. Somewhere to get your head down wasn't any staff but I text the owner through booking. Com and got a reply straight away

Pro: A beautiful historic building with a grand stair entrance and sky lights. Some rooms even have bed canopies. Comfortable bed, warm water and heating that you can adjust not much to complain about. Loved the contactless check in. Private showers, linen and towels included as well as free parking. Access to a shared full kitchen. Con: The building is beautiful but old and in need of some upkeep. It is a bit disheartening to see that some of the fixes had a strong DIY feel.

Beautiful setting and welcoming animals! Old school vibe. Clean and comfortable and an excellent shower.

Slightly weather beaten. Not enough kitchen utensils. I couldn’t find an oven tray and there was no sieve. No iron.

Although in need of renovation the building is great and full of history. For a value room it was large with an onsuite bathroom. ( two other value rooms I stayed in on this trip were tiny with shared bathroom)
