The Lodges at Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate

We travelled all the way from Melbourne, Australia, to get married at Glenlo Abbey — and it was beyond anything we could have imagined. Every bit of communication in the lead-up was handled through calls and emails, and the team made it feel completely seamless. They were warm, professional, and genuinely cared about making our day perfect. The service on our wedding day was the best we have ever experienced — not just for us as the couple, but for every single one of our guests. Our friends and family are still talking about how beautifully they were treated. The staff went above and beyond in every way, adding thoughtful touches and surprises that made the day feel even more special. And the food… there are no words. Every dish was absolutely incredible — world-class presentation, flavours, and quality. It truly reflected the heart and excellence of Glenlo Abbey. To anyone considering a wedding here: stop looking. Glenlo Abbey is pure magic. We’ll treasure this place and the people forever.

I had high expectations and Glenlo Abbey exceeded them. What a beautiful property. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed, and the food is exceptional. I was there to celebrate my birthday and a wonderful lava cake with Happy Birthday in icing on the plate was delivered at the end of the meal. I would absolutely stay here again. Also had the spa treatments which were equally wonderful. Overall it was worth the price and an exceptional experience. Thanks to all at Glenlo who make the magic happen!

We were looking forward to our return trip to Glenlo but it was very disappointing as an experience with no follow up from management despite us being told on departure that we would be contacted. We had booked for two nights B&B and a dinner in the Pullman restaurant, and also had lunch separately each day in the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful so no issues there, but the quality of the breakfast and lunches were poor overall - definitely not what you would expect for a hotel of this rating. The worst aspect was the dinner in the Pullman. We waited for over an hour and twenty minutes for our food - drinking a bottle of bubby as we waited, before we made the decision to leave. It was a very disappointing end to what was planned as a lovely break. On check out, I mentioned the issue with dinner and they acknowledged they had been made aware of delays the previous evening. I was told that I would not be charged for the dinner (which to my mind is pretty obvious to not get charged for a dinner not actually delivered). I was also told that a manager would follow up - but it is three weeks later and no such contact. Overall, not the experience that is advertised and very disappointing.

The hotel and grounds were beautiful! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The dinners and breakfasts were very good! Raed and Ruidhhan took excellent care of us. The property was only a short taxi ride from Galway!!

We unfortunately had a poor experience during our stay at Glenlo Abbey. We were visiting Glenlo Abbey for our honeymoon. The check-in experience was fairly seamless, but we were brought to a room with an accessible bathroom and the room smelled totally of bleach. We asked if there would be another room available and that we would be away until the evening - upon our return they advised there was no room, but we could move the following day. The following day, we were shown a new room, but given that we had unpacked already we elected to stay in the same room. While relaxing, a staff member opened our door without knocking. Luckily, the chain was on the door. We also had placed the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. We advised reception of this immediately. Later, we told reception we would be heading into Galway and that the housekeeping staff could refresh the room. We returned later and the room had not been cleaned or turned over - we did not have towels because we had been using them to dry the bathroom floor which would get quite wet every time we showered. We left again to give the staff time to clean the room, and then went to the bar. We ordered two drinks and the bartender did not have the appropriate whiskey - when we asked if he could use an alternative he only offered a 12-year variety that would be more expensive, so we opted for another cocktail. The Pullman Restaurant was the only saving grace. The food and staff were great. Cyril was also a highlight of our stay. Overall, there were so many opportunities for the hotel to take ownership of these issues, but they were brushed off as if they were not problems affecting our stay. It was disappointing given the importance of this trip. Examples: the bartender should have just used an alternative whiskey and omitted the upcharge - that is how guest experience should work. We were asked upon departure if we would be returning, and unfortunately we will not be staying at Glenlo in the future nor recommending it. We passed along this feedback to Glenlo Abbey - Liam noted that our feedback has been shared with department heads. To be transparent, Liam did offer to help coordinate a better stay at Glenlo Abbey should we return, but my husband and I do not plan to go back to this hotel with so many other great offerings in the region.

I recently enjoyed the Peaceful Escape Package at Glo Spa and had the absolute pleasure of being looked after by Tatiana, who was so lovely and had such a kind, calming energy - she’s truly a credit to the spa. Afterwards, we had lunch in Palmers Bar, where the staff were so accommodating and friendly, making the afternoon feel extra special. This wasn’t my first time at Glenlo Abbey, but experiences like this just reaffirm why I always come back. Everything - from the atmosphere to the service - is consistently exceptional.

We have a really lovely time here. Stayed for two nights, dining in the Pullman on the second night. It was something special. Rooms, facilities and staff were great. A particular shout out to Doroti who was our server in the Palmers bar the first night.

We had our wedding on the 13th of September in Glenlo and it was phenomenal. The wedding ceremony in the chapel was amazing and the celebration in the hotel was brilliant. Everything was perfect—the ceremony, the party, the food, our accommodation - all top-notch. We had such a fantastic time in Glenlo. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU once again to the whole team who made this day even more special❤️ According to our wedding guests' opinions, it was the best wedding they had ever been to so you can only imagine how fantastic the day was!😉 We will definitely be back to Glenlo to celebrate our first anniversary🥂😉🎉 Ewa and Rafal

Fabulous hotel. The rooms were lovely and very comfortable. The staff were efficient and very friendly. The food on the Orient express was superb! I can't understand why they don't have a Michelin star. Would highly recommend it!

I booked a massage at Glenlo Spa. Lina was fantastic! The spa area is clean and relaxing I came in very sore and not feeling great and left the spa feeling happy and healthy. Lina used the perfect amount of pressure and checked in regularly on my well being. She gave me some excellent tips on maintaining my health and it was much appreciated. Lina RULES!!!
