Desolation Hotel

Can I move in here? Everything about this hotel is well designed. I stayed in the townhouse and it was so comfortable. We had a kitchen, living room, two balconies, bedroom, and two bathrooms. The master bath had an amazzzzzing bathtub with a built in seat. If they won't take me as a resident I'm at least going to have to steal their interior designer to come renovate my house. The onsite restaurant Maggie's was tasty and the staff was really great. And then of course Lake Tahoe, Lake Tahoe!!! It's only a 5 minute walk. The way the big pine trees come right to the shore line. It's really special nature.

Spent this past weekend at Desolation for the 1st time and our stay was INCREDIBLE! Desolation Hotel does not only have beautiful grounds but amazing customer service as well. The hotel rooms our immaculate and you can’t beat the location. It’s centrally located in the heart of South Lake and just a short walk to the casinos and Heavenly Village. A very impressive amount of thought has gone into all the tiny details in each room. We absolutely loved our condo. It was by far the most comfortable stay I’ve ever had. They are even pet friendly which is a huge plus for all the dog lovers out there. There is nothing more you could need as they have truly thought of everything! Desolation Hotel blows every other hotel out of the water and I felt spoiled. Cannot wait to come back! Thank you Desolation staff for an unforgettable weekend!

Hello, this hotel was great. Only two years old and lots of modern amenities. Plenty of outlets, space, heated floors, salt pool, electric bathroom mirror auto turn on, etc. The staff was very nice and helpful! Two negatives would be the $75 per night (vs per stay) pet fee and maybe next time mention up front to use the key card to turn on the power in the room as we weren't familiar with this and spent some time trying to figure it out. Thanks!

Stayed at the Desolation Hotel in South Lake Tahoe and had a wonderful experience. The hotel's location is perfect, offering easy access to both the lake and nearby attractions. My room was beautifully designed, spacious, and impeccably clean, with comfortable furnishings that made for a restful stay. The staff were welcoming and attentive, providing excellent service throughout my visit. I also enjoyed the hotel's amenities, including a lovely pool and relaxing outdoor areas. Overall, the Desolation Hotel offers a perfect blend of comfort, style, and excellent service—I highly recommend it and would gladly stay here again.

The facilities were great, staff was very friendly and helpful. The space was well thought out even for a small room. I loved the kitchenette and awesome bathroom. Price was just right. Loved the free laundry room.

Our TV had a weird static noise if the volume was turned up. I wished there was extra sugar/creamer/tea in the rooms. The "lobby room" closes at 8pm, which is where this setup is. Only that area could be more convenient, which was fine because I just grabbed extras as I passed by.

Just came back from our first visit to the Desolation Hotel in SLT. It was amazing! Every staff person with whom you come in contact is just a delight. The facility is so clean and modern compared to the nearby hotels, many of which are so rundown and outdated. The food at Maggie's, the onsite restaurant, is delicious, as are the cocktails. Finally, they have the best hotel towels EVER to use in the bathroom with the heated floor. Nice touch!

I really loved this place. The guy at the front desk was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and friendly.
