The Vistula Rose B & B

I've stayed at many hotels, B&Bs, and motels across the world. The Vistula Rose B&B is one of my absolute favourites. Both innkeepers' hospitality was incredible. They accommodated an unorthodox arrival, which was deeply appreciated. Spent a couple of hours chatting having breakfast or idling for the next activity in my schedule, and had some great conversations. I also got the feeling that he would have respected not chatting if that's what I wanted (noting this in case anyone is concerned about having their ear talked off: I chose to engage in conversation). Food was also excellent. I needed to eat light that weekend, and was served breakfasts that were nutritional and not heavy on the stomach. I was also provided with some local honey (delicious). I was offered tea and coffee, but I use my AeroPress when travelling (so I can satisfy my coffee snobbery), and can't comment on those. The mattress was amazing. I slept better in that bed than my own, and struggled to get out each morning because it was so warm and comfortable. I might actually buy this mattress!

It was a beautiful home located close to downtown.

The bathroom was not in or attached to the room. Theybteied to get awaybwith it by calling it a "private" bathroom. Yeah, because its acroas the hall fromthe roo. With a sign in itbthat said "Private". The floors and doors were soo squeaky (I know it's an old house but there are ways to minimize sounds). Lastly, the doorknob to our room almost pulled all the way out. Oh, and the TV remote didn't work which was just icing on the cake.

Absolutely loved the entire inside of the building with all the beautiful history and furniture! Also loved the breakfast, other guests and Patrick ... our room was gorgeous! Will highly recommend!

The antiquity of the house. It was ONCE a beautiful home.

It was not pretty like the pictures displayed. It was really worn and not polished for a B & B facility. The bedrooms were nice but the rest was still in need of attention. The care giver kept saying the workers were coming to fix this and that. It had a ladder sitting down one of the halls and trim work sitting out on the floor when entering. The floors needs a good polishing and carpets need cleaned. Entrance rugs were very dirty and the stair rugs. It needed a deep clean and was certainly dusty on everything. The vacuum cleaner was never put away and sat out on a main hallway. It was hiding exposed brick hole in the wall. Our bedroom was pretty but old air condition units in our window. We had to leave our room to go to the restroom. No robes provided like it says on their Web. Our bedroom doors had 2 glass windows and were told by our friends that they can see into our room! They were right! Not good at all! Our door knob was just hanging. Our bathroom had toothpaste dryer on the was and the facet and handles were still not clean from last customers. The mirror had still water streaks all down it from steam from the shower from last customers. I didn’t feel it was clean to take shower. The floor tile looked dirty. None of us felt compelled to use any of the sitting areas down stairs. When using the bathroom downstairs after breakfast, the trash an hadn’t been emptied for a long time. Patrick was an interesting man. Friendly enough and non ending stories. We did enjoy his history of the house but even that was stunted by the looks of the place. (IT WAS IN THE INNER CITY!!!!). I had been told by a couple of the ladies in our other stay from Toledo, that that street N Huron was in the worse part of town in Toledo and we shouldn’t leave our belongings in our cars. I asked Patrick about our concern and he replied, “ it is in the inner city but we’ve never had a break in yet”.

B&B not handicap accessible. Beds listed as Queen were actually Full size. Located in a iffy area. Advised not to walk to the corner party store because neighborhood was not safe. Room soap and conditioner containers were empty. Hallway coffee station pods not stocked, so we had to walk to the kitchen in the morning to ask for more. The one bathroom towel we were each given, had a smell like it had not been totally dried when put away. Vacuum cleaner was left out in the hall. Host was a climate change denier and could not read the room that he was hosting a group that DID believe in climate change. While interacting with hosts of B&B's is nice, in a limited capacity, this host actually sat down and ate with us one morning and dominated conversation both mornings. I found this awkwardly uncomfortable.

The host was amazing and very helpful. The room and the whole property was very beautiful. A very relaxing stay!

Massive mansion that was quite beautiful and unexpected. Manager Patrick was very accommodating, informative, and made an amazing breakfast.

The bathroom for our bedroom was in a public hallway. Property felt it needed a thorough cleaning. Hard to find because no signage for the business.
