Fishermans Cottage built in 1705

It’s a cute little cottage convenient for everything. Comfortable beds It had the essentials. The garden is a nice sun trap (but there are plant pots on the wall of the adjoining house which were dripping water practically onto us.)

The location is very convenient but on the Friday night we were woken up by a rowdy pub crowd in the early hours (and somebody being sick). The noise wasn’t noticeable on Saturday. The dining table was in an awkward position and difficult to sit four comfortably, never mind six. The kitchen had most of the essentials but nothing extra - no colander, cheese grater, just one sharp knife. Nowhere to store your food. But a huge Aga which I should think will be very useful come winter. There were six of us on the last night and there was no way we could stay in and eat comfortably. We had to request two more towels for the extra two guests - they arrived damp - the towels not the guests!)And the stairs! Really dangerous but we knew that before we arrived and we are relatively agile! The problem is the stairs start right outside the top two bedrooms, so you need to be vigilant especially at night. All that said, it was fine for a few nights but def not equipped for longer.

Loved the location, character and quirkiness of the cottage. Comfy beds and great outside courtyard and downstairs loo was a bonus. We all enjoyed our stay and would definitely return for a further stay.

Great location, warm and cosy.

Certain parts were not clean, e.g. blinds in bathroom were quite greasy and dirty. Also when we stripped the beds on last day we discovered one on the single mattresses was badly stained. It clearly had been dried out but not cleaned properly. There were no wine glasses so we had to buy some. The stairs are very steep and there are no rails or grab handles on the bottom section - one lady in our group had a nasty fall, cutting her arm and sustaining some bad bruising to her back, thankfully nothing more serious than that.

The cottage was charming and we were adequately warned about the difficult stairs which did not disappoint! The cottage is in the very interesting old part of Hasting which was ideal for us. Pet friendly was essential for us and the enclosed yard at the back was therefore a bonus.

Access is via very narrow street just wide enough for a small car - charmng but a little awkward when queued up and fumbling for keys from the keysafe. The plumbing needed TLC and we have advised the agent of the problems. Not sure the general state of repair justified the price. The council car parking instructions were gloriously ambiguous - perhaps some local knowledge could have been conveyed on what the displayed fee schedule really meant. We had thereore to err on the side of caution which was quite expensive.

The location couldn't be better, in a quiet side street right next to everything, with the seafront just over the road and bars and restaurants all around

We had a fantastic stay at Fishermans cottage. The cottage was immaculately clean, very spacious, with lots of lovely quirky features, and super comfy beds. The location is perfect for exploring the Old town. Highly recommend the Lifeboat chippy. We will definitely visit again.

The only downside is parking.

I like the bathroom is the best garden.
