The hotel is not located at the beach as the picture suggests; street is noisy.

Sauber, modern und tolle New Year Party. Jedoch Preis Leistungsverhältnis unpassend.

Wspanialy hotel w El Nido. Doskonala lokalizacja, butikowy design, dobre jedzenie, duza dbalosc o szczegoly. Najwiekszym atutem hotelu jest personel, ktory jest po prostu cudowny!

All the Funny Lion staff we encountered were very friendly and professional. The visual design of the hotel is sleek and contemporary (although with several practical shortcomings). The breakfast buffet was good, but not as good as Seda Lio in our opinion. Papaya Beach is a great inclusion and possibly the best beach alternative when staying in El Nido town. Operators of the trip to Papaya beach is great, we used for a private Tour B. They suggested tour B but still charged us for Tour C… a little minus, but they made up for it by being very flexible and helpful in every sense. Highly recommended.

The hotel has some major design flaws: Its placement along El Nido’s main highway with constant traffic 24/7 makes the architect’s choice to have open air loft corridors facing the highway seem almost comically clueless. I have seen very few worse site context sensitivity cases during 23+ years in commercial real estate. This combined with some kind of modular building system (which I guess might be a design/sustainable choice) with nonexistent sound proofing - gives the unlucky people on the street side of the hotel the surreal sound experience of having Tuc Tucs, cars and moped traveling right beside your bed (haha). Must be experienced to be understood. Luckily we got to trade rooms to the other side of the building, still nonexistent soundproofing but at least not the Tuc Tuc 3D sound experience, we were very happy with that. Other than that the rooms are really small, which drives price up for families. For 4 persons we had to take 2 rooms instead of 1 like we could have in Seda Lio or Zuri resort (Coron). The beds were really hard in my opinion, but my kids liked the beds. The bathroom has a strange design where the sink and mirror is in the bedroom and the toilet and shower in a separate room… Once again a highly questionable design choice to not have a shower cabin/partition so the water splurts out into the toilet area. Lastly we had a bug problem. Yes in the tropics bugs are everywhere, but we have not had ants, cockroaches or spiders in the other hotel’s we have stayed on in the Phillipines. Neither in the Maldives or Bali. Yeah, absolutely a few issues. But the full picture is Funny Lion is a good stay and the high quality staff makes up for the technical shortcomings.

Really enjoyed The Funny Lion. The staff (especially Val) were extremely nice and welcoming. Convenient location. Good food and happy hour. Nice facilities. Would stay again for sure.
