Host & Stay - Rose Cottage, Pickering

Great location, comfortable and had everything I needed.

Nothing even worth mentioning.

Good location, quirky cottage.

I don’t even know where to start, gutted after looking forward to a break after husband had been away for so long. I even contacted the property ahead as was concerned about some reviews. I was assured the issues had been rectified and that one review was because a booking had turned up early. Well even after a number of welcome texts we got there to be told we weren’t down for that day. We checked in to a dirty cottage with washing everywhere. Broke my little girls heart and spoilt the first part of our holiday having to clean. The management company sent someone out after we called and once overed the bedrooms but left the bathroom dirty and totally missed a dog haired covered living room. We spent most of our holiday out the cottage and feel utterly conned. Such a shame as it does have potential, it was a nosey location and youngest did struggle to sleep. As did we due to cleanliness. The company didn’t even apologise when they turned up. We only stayed because my daughter had been excited to be there and we didn’t want to upset her further. We accessed via the garden and that also needs a tidy, lots of areas that need a deep clean. This cottage is just getting a light tidy to the host’s opinion not a holiday cottage tidy and we felt very uncomfortable.

The cottage is located centrally and a sunny spot in the centre of Pickering with parking is a plus.

We knew that there would be road noise but single glazing and thin curtains don't enable good sleep. Generally, it needs some TLC, freezer is full of ice so cannot be used, garden is a bit sad and the outside drains need to be cleared.

Location in centre of Pickering. Convenient for good restaurants, the bus and North Yorks Railway. Own parking space.

It's on a busy road. The bath plug needs repair. Needs more frying pans in kitchen.

Good location

On arrival noticed dry toilet paper on the path at the doorstep and in the drain outside back door. Went in and used the shower and toilet as we were going out for dinner Then immediately the drain overflowed causing a large smelly puddle containing the contents of the toilet,which made the garden unusable and we have a dog so couldn't use the enclosed garden and every time the toilet was used the puddle got bigger and covered more of the garden. So after trying to contact the hosts time went by and we had to cancel dinner booking. I spoke to someone and sent picture's confirming the problem and got an email saying someone would contact me but they didn't that night, so I rang a number out of the folder the next morning for the cleaner and waitied in for them and a drain guy to come and unblock the drain I was told by both the cleaner and the person who unblocked the drain that this is an ongoing issue that the owner is aware of and that they only want to deal with the issue when it happens and don't want to repair the ongoing issue, so it will.happen again to other guests in the future I fear. This greatley delayed our plans for that day and the previous night and as we only stayed two nights it really spoiled the whole experience. I have tried since to speak to someone and asked for a complaint form but haven't received anything as yet.Very poor customer service and am very disappointed that they haven't been contact since this happened.

Main bedroom, the bed was incredibly comfortable. Perfect location, kids loved having their own room above us.

The shower pressure was a little slow/weak.
