Host & Stay - Rose Cottage, Pickering

The cleanliness not the best . Had to unload the dishwasher when we arrived .

Had everything we needed and the location was great. In easy walking distance of centre of Pickering.

Could have done with blackout curtains in double bedroom because of the light from the street. Didn't spoil our stay though.

having a parking place in that location was essential. The owners have done a very good job of making a quirky and awkward property live-able. Clean and freshly decorated with all necessary amenities, comfy beds and close to restaurants etc.

Unfortunately it is located on a busy through road with traffic continuing through the night, which did disturb our sleep. Steep staircases were awkward to negotiate when you're not used to them.

Brilliant little cottage would book again. Had a great 4 nights

Cottage was warm, clean and comfortable.

Could have done with a handle on the wall to help with getting out of the bath.

It was well equipped and very clean.

We didn't bring any shampoo or shower gel, but there are shops really close by

The cottage is in a central location. The facilities were good (well stocked kitchen, large bathroom, comfortable living room). There is private off-road parking. The property is located directly on the main road through Pickering and the living room and one bedroom are road facing so not the best if you are sensitive to road noise.

Beware the security deposit arrangements, which I have never seen the like before, which I found extremely irritating. You either have to buy an indemnity for £30, or pay a deposit of £300, a week or so before arrival, which they will kindly return to you around 2 weeks after your stay (why 2 weeks? - bank transfers are instantaneous these days), minus £10 admin fee. In other words, you pay £10 for them to keep YOUR money in a potentially interest bearing account for up to 3 weeks. When I was reminded of this requirement by email (I know it's in the description, but didn't take much notice at the time of booking) I would have cancelled the booking if I had been able to and stayed somewhere more trusting. The multiple emails they sent me referencing potential damage and the consequences also made me uncomfortable (even though I have never failed to have a security deposit repaid in full previously). For me, it spoiled the whole experience.

Venue, very clean everything we required, value for money

All good. When you have a few bob a few new concrete slabs in garden and a canopy over picnic table would be good
